LOS ANGELES CITIZENS FILE RECALL TO OUST MAYOR, CITY ATTORNEY AND ALL CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS

LOS ANGELES – January 31, 2010 - US Congressional Candidate Phil Jennerjahn and medical cannabis patient activist Degé Coutee will file papers with the Los Angeles City Clerk – Election Division at 555 Ramirez Street, Space 300, Los Angeles, CA, 90012, on February 1, 2010, at 10 a.m., to recall top officials at Los Angeles City Hall.

Jennerjahn sees the failures of city officials as intolerable. “Even with record income our city officials are leading us to bankruptcy. This is unacceptable. The voters must remove them from power,” he states.

Coutee agrees. She attended all City hearings and meetings on medical marijuana. “I watched them ineffectively deal with the moratorium and hardships and draft a completely unworkable ordinance. And during these last five years I watched them ineffectively deal with all other City business. They have to go,” she contends.

“Our budget crisis has gone on too long and the citizens are angry,” Jennerjahn continues. “I believe there’s enough support to get rid of the Mayor.”

Coutee adds, “There’s an army of patients citywide volunteering to help with this. This it totally doable.”

POTUS uses TOTUS for SOTU

President Barack Obama used his handy teleprompter to deliver his State of The Union Address last night.

All reports seem to show he got a bit of a chilly reception.

Confident Republicans were not interested in hearing his Socialist message, which has been rejected in recent elections in New Jersey, Virginia and even Blue-State Massachusetts.

Fearful Democrats, anticipating being wiped out in the coming November election, were looking for something different or inspiring from their President.

They didn't get much.

This is one of the best, and most honest speeches I have seen by a Conservative in recent memory.

I especially love the part about George Washington and the 2500 men.

Gingrich would make a great candidate in 2012 because of the clarity of his vision and the strength of his beliefs.

He is the the polar opposite to everything that Barack Obama represents.

RPLAC dispute escalates into legal battle

Several months ago, I wrote a small article on the Mayor Sam blog about a power struggle that had occurred in the Republican Party of Los Angeles County. I had mistakenly labeled it as a fight between Conservatives and Moderates. However, it was actually just a power struggle between two factions of the party. Ideology never was a part of the discussion.

The dispute all started on May 14th, 2009 at the RPLAC meeting. A faction of the County Party led by Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff had decided that the current leadership of RPLAC was not getting the job done. They called for a strange motion at the meeting, called "vacate the Chair", which meant that they were asking those in attendance to immediately vote out of power Chairman Glen Forsch and his entire board. The motion passed, but not without great argumentation and vocalized displeasure by some. Due to the heated nature of the fracas, Chairman Glen Forsch and First Vice Chairman Lydia Gutierrez felt compelled to step down from their positions. Then the faction led by Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff called for immediate new elections and new officers were elected at the meeting by a majority vote.

The following new officers took control of RPLAC: Jane Barnett - Chairman, Gary Aminoff - First Vice Chairman, John Cozza - Second Vice Chairman, Alex Burrola - Secretary, Davina Keiser - Assistant Secretary, Leonard Lanzi - Treasurer, Gwen Patrick, Assistant Treasurer.

One of the previous Board members, Second Vice Chairman Robert Vaughn, stated that he had never resigned and that the elections were improper and illegal. Vaughn has gone on from this event to state that according to technical rules, that he is the new Chairman of the Republican Party of Los Angeles. He continues to state this to this day, saying that he "can't be bullied, bribed, or intimidated." Vaughn and his supporters have broken away from the results of that RPLAC meeting and formed an alternative RPLAC organization, even going so far as to create a website with very strong similarities to the RPLAC site that previously existed.

Now, after months of bickering between the two sides, the dispute has escalated into a legal matter.

The faction led by Robert Vaughn is suing the other faction led by Jane Barnett for control of the Republican Party of Los Angeles County. As you can see from the papers above, Gary Aminoff, John Cozza, Leonard Lanzi, Alex Burrola, and Davina Keiser are all named in the lawsuit.

I have obtained a copy of the lawsuit, and I will share some of the details here at TJR.

1) Robert Vaughn claims to be the rightful Chairman of RPLAC by law.

2) Vaughns attorneys list some of the former board members as plaintiffs, minus Glen Forsch and Lydia Gutierrez, who, I assume, asked to stay out of this battle.

3) Vaughn asks for control of RPLAC and all funds and bank accounts and assets.

4) There is a lot of technical jargon about election codes, Central Committees, and the RPLAC Bylaws.

5) A long discussion of how what happened on May 14th did not conform to technical bylaw rules.

6) Line 28, page 8 "This lawsuit is filed for the purpose of ousting the coup plotters and participants from their wrongfully held officer positions; enjoining the wrongdoers from carrying out any further acts under the color of their improper status as putative RPLAC officers, and restoring full and unfettered management and control of RPLAC to the valid and legitimate Chairman and Executive Committee."

7)Surprisingly, the lawsuit lists Lydia Gutierrez as one of the "coup plotters", but I'm not so sure about that. Why would she join an attempt to put herself out of power?

8) Page 12 line 3 "The May 14th 2009 'elections' during the adjourned and immediately reconvened meeting were carried out in Communist Russia style, and are entirely ineffective. Indeed, the entire coup process violated the RPLAC Bylaw which describes in specific terms the "Notice Requirement" for a Central Committee meeting at the Article VI Section 2.b.

9) A long technical section about how and why officers may be removed.

10) Doug Boyd and Linda Boyd receive harsh criticism for their behavior on Dec 6, 2008 where they left a meeting rather than face an election defeat.

11) Page 17 and 18 of the lawsuit contain very harsh words of criticism of Gary Aminoff

12) Page 20 Robert Vaughn accuses Gary Aminoff and Val Cymbal of slandering him.

13) Pages 24-28 are a blow-by-blow account of the meeting on May 14th.

14) Pages 29-33 a long discussion of how Parlimentary procedures were improper or not followed.

15) Plaintiffs end by asking for control of RPLAC and all assets and bank accounts.

Whew. Heavy stuff.

Where do I stand on all this? I'm caught in the middle of the crossfire, that's for sure.

I like Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff on a personal level and think they are doing good things with the party. I think Jane is a great leader and has a personal leadership style that is to be admired.

However, I don't think the events of May 14th were proper. You can't just hold immediate elections without proper notice beforehand. Vaughn and his supporters will get all technical about the details but the dispute boils down to one specific fact: The members of RPLAC were unhappy with the leadership and decided to make a change. As a private organization, they have every right to call new elections or replace leaders they are unhappy with. However, as professionals, these changes need to be carried out under much different circumstances.

As a Conservative, you always want to be concerned about the freedom and liberty of others. How did this May 14th meeting increase or support the freedom of others? It didn't. Only certain members knew what was going to happen. The election infringed on the freedom of other members to be involved in the process. There may have been others who wanted to run for positions, but were not given that chance because they never knew an election was going to take place that night. I guess I was one of the lucky ones, because I knew in advance what was going to happen at that meeting and exactly who was going to be elected. I knew it would be a ugly scene, so I didn't attend that meeting. It still bothers me that many people were left out of the loop.

Later on, I saw the destructive effect of this power struggle, and tried to interject myself into the dispute in order to seek peace. As a former candidate for Mayor, I was known to most in the Party.

I spent a lot of time and effort behind the scenes contacting Robert Vaughn, Jane Barnett and Gary Aminoff. I tried to get all the parties to come to the table because I felt the dispute was headed in an unhealthy direction with a no-win outcome for all involved. I suggested to Jane that new elections might be the solution. Jane said that had been offered to Vaughn and he had refused them. Vaughn disputes this statement and says new elections were never offered. So there is clearly some miscommunication there.

I suggested a moderation committee to end the dispute, but in the long run, Vaughn, Barnett, and Aminoff were all too firmly entrenched in their beliefs that they were correct. Instead of coming to the table for private negotiations, they are now headed for the courtroom.

And as an extra nice reward for my efforts, I got fired from my position as Public Relations Spokesman for Westside Republicans. Chairman Robert Pedersen felt I was "meddling" in an issue where he had chosen to take sides with Jane and Gary and he also felt that I was putting our very new groups charter in danger by my actions. I understand his choices, but I don't agree with them.

I am not taking sides with either group, but I feel the technical infractions of the rules with a "sudden election" need to be addressed. Maybe the solution is a new election with plenty of notice. Every faction can bring their big guns to the big fight and when the smoke clears, we will see who really has support and who is in charge.

Heading to the courtroom is destructive and makes all RPLAC leaders look bad.

It is a no-win situation. If the forces led by Vaughn win the courtroom battle, there will be a self-destruction at RPLAC as many members will walk away and form an alternative organization. If the forces led by Jane Barnett win the legal battle, there will be people who are permanently disenfranchised and will be considered pariahs in any future political activities. Already the new leadership at RPLAC is coming dangerous close to appearing to be out of control. They way they kicked Jose Aguilar and Robert Vaughn out of the party at a later meeting was nothing but the new leaders being spiteful and vindictive. I have not attended any RPLAC meetings since that one, where Jose Aguilar and Robert Vaughn were excommunicated as if it were some type of modern-day witch hunt. This is not the way a professional organization can be run and still survive with any semblance of respect or credibility.

As Jose Aguilar said to me recently, "If we allow this mob rule mentality to create a precedent, without following the bylaws, then every meeting becomes a free-for-all and there is no longer any adherence to the bylaws, which specify two year terms."

He has a point there.

I urge both sides to return to negotiation and an out of court settlement.

It is in the best interests of all.

I am now a pariah in my own party and left wandering in the political wasteland.

But I don't regret it.

I stood up for the rights of others.

And I always will.

Matt Szabo - He'll save every one of us!!

Disturbing news yet again today coming out of the headlines in the L.A. Daily News. In a recent article by writer Rick Orlov, the true depth of the despair of the City of Los Angeles becomes evident. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa makes it clear that he is not interested in having the City file for bankruptcy. Unfortunately for residents of Los Angeles like myself, the Mayor lives in a fantasy world where his years of giving undeserved payoffs and kickbacks to his buddies in the labor unions never ends up with any negative outcome or blowback.

The truth is that bankruptcy and the annihilation of all those dishonest, unrealistic, and untenable City contracts/pensions is probably the only way out of this mess now. All because our Mayor is pathologically dishonest and doesn't want to face the music or the wrath of his union henchmen.

The most disturbing line of the article?

"This Mayor has no interest in going down the road to bankruptcy," said Deputy Mayor Matt Szabo, who has been assigned the task of developing the overall financial strategy for the city.

Matt Szabo? The guy who used to run and get coffee for Richard Riordan?

News like this should be a loud and clear call to citizens.

Why Scott Brown Wins Today

A horrible series of blunders and missteps by Martha Coakley is what is going to be the exclamation point on a victory today by Scott Brown. If Coakley had only made half the mistakes she has made, she would probably be a U.S. Senator by this evening. Things didn't work out that way, and it seems very likely that voters are going to send Scott Brown to the U.S. Senate to replace Ted Kennedy.

Powerful reasons why Scott Brown wins today:

1) Anti-Healthcare sentiment. Massachusetts voters already have decent healthcare coverage, and can only see a government option as costing them more money. Conservative voters are offended by the corruption of the Democrats in buying votes from Senators Nelson and Landrieu in order to pass the program.

2) Taxation. Massachusetts voters are some of the highest taxed individuals in the nation. With the economy slumping, the tax bite hurts even more. Nobody can pay those types of rates and be happy about it.

3) The terrible non-campaign run by Coakley. Once she won the Democratic Primary, she acted like a Queen measuring the drapes for her Senate Office. Scott Brown was out there in the cold outside sports arenas shaking hands with blue-collar workers. Coakley really didn't even campaign until she realized she was in danger of losing.

4) Boneheaded mistakes by Coakley. During a debate, she claimed there were no terrorists left in Afghanistan. She ran a TV ad that had the name of the State mis-spelled. She criticized Red Sox pitching hero Curt Schilling by calling him "a Yankee fan." She had gotten him mixed up with Rudy Giuliani, but the result was devastating among men. You don't criticize the hero pitcher who helped the Red Sox win the World Series!!

5) Personality. Brown is a more likable guy. He drives a pickup truck. He serves in the military. His daughter became somewhat famous by singing on American Idol. Coakley has been cold and distant in her non-campaign, and seemed to be losing voters everyday. She may lose by a large margin today.

Voters have good instincts. They know what they like, and they don't like Martha. They like Scott Brown.

Mayor Sam says goodbye

In the most recent post on the popular local political blog Mayor Sam, founder and chief editor Michael Higby announces that he is going to end the blog for now. He doesn't give any specific reasons for ending the blog, but he thanks all the former contributors and tells readers that it was a great ride while it lasted.

If it is true that Mayor Sam is ending, this comes as very disappointing news. But Michael Higby has every right to do as he pleases. He accomplished something that is a true rarity in the media. He turned his own personal blog into the most important political hotspot in town. Most City officials would never admit it, but most of them read Mayor Sam every morning...at a minimum, just to make sure they were not the top story. His blog was such a force that it sponsored a debate where 5 of the 10 candidates for Mayor were present. Unprecedented.

It was the little blog that became a monster influence in the City of Los Angeles.

Higby and Mayor Sam broke many news scoops that major media outlets failed to investigate.

Political junkies soon came to realize that reading Mayor Sam gave them a head start when it came to addressing problems here in the City...or avoiding them. Followers of City politics will face a huge void if Mayor Sam goes away, but Higby notes that there are other local blogs who do a decent job of covering local events.

Instead of criticizing Michael Higby for ending the blog, I'd like to praise him for what he accomplished in the five years he ran it. I really enjoyed working for Mayor Sam and I will always be grateful to Michael Higby for the opportunity he gave me to be a part of the political journalism landscape here in L.A.

In fact, I think I will ask the City Council Members for one of their patented time-wasting, hot-air blasting Certificate of Appreciation presentation ceremonies down at City Hall.

The City owes Michael Higby at least that much.

Richard Alarcon: The Fredo Corleone of City Politics

Richard Alarcon is a corrupt career politician who currently has a seat on the Los Angeles City Council representing the 7th District. Alarcon is making headlines this week because he got caught pulling a career politician stunt.

He was living in different district than the one he represents.

That is something that is not allowed by the City. However, several other elected officials are guilty of this type of "position hunting" without actually wanting to give up residence in their primary palace. Paul Krekorian is a recent political scavenger who went looking for the scraps left over from Wendy Gruels unfinished term on City Council. The shockingly repulsive behavior by Krekorian, who abandoned an elected position only months after the election, was kind of a mirror image of the corruption of Richard Alarcon, who also abandoned an elected position almost immediately to run for a City Council seat.

Alarcon is turning out to be the Fredo Corleone of City politics. A guy who thinks he's pretty smart, but actually isn't. Alarcon has left a trail of lies and deceit that is about to catch up with him.

He wasn't living in his voting residence, a fact that is backed up by Controller Wendy Greuels statements that Alarcon had asked her in 2007 about changing a City Council boundary in order to make things easier for him to continue his deception. Statements by witnesses make it clear that Alarcon had not been living in the house for at least three years.

Alarcon is at the point now where he can't keep all his lies straight anymore. First he told the L.A. Times he was living there. Then , just days later, he comes out with a different story - one about a homeless man who broke into the house and started "squatting" there. The problem with this storyline is that it actually backs up the allegation that Alarcon had not been living there. Not the best excuse. And Alarcons comments about "safety" are laughable and ridiculous. If a sitting City Council Member can't get some extra police protection for his primary residence.......

Former Mayoral Candidate Walter Moore, on his blog, calls Alarcons defenses "bullshit".

I am in complete agreement with Mr. Moore on this issue.

Alarcon has a long record of professional misbehavior, a fact that is clearly lost on his voters.

In the past, Alarcon has doled out large sums of public money to a wide variety of girlfriends, ex-girlfriends, and ex-wives. He has also had a variety of blood relatives placed on various boards and committees.

I was attending the City Council meeting where he had his daughter installed on the Taxicab Commission, even though she admitted to still being in law school at the time.

Luckily for L.A. voters, it appears that District Attorney Steve Cooley may be willing to bring the Councilmans shenanigans to an end. A felony conviction for voter registration fraud seems certain to be in the cards for Alarcon.

It's about time.

If I had been elected Mayor of Los Angeles in 2009, Alarcons trip to a jail cell would have happened a lot faster.

Will Richard Alarcon be first Council Member to make "Perp Walk"??

In an exciting development, the L.A. Times broke a story this morning about City Council Member Richard Alarcon being under investigation for voter registration fraud.

The story confirmed what many in this City had known for years... that some City Council Members do not live in the districts that they represent.

This fact was usually treated with a wink and a nudge by other politicians, but it appears that this type of tradition of corruption might be coming to an end. There is a new breed of hero in town. The Nuch/Cooley combo is threatening to put an end to the rampant corruption in the City of Los Angeles. Steve Cooley is now running for Attorney General for the State of California. It might be a great boost to his campaign to announce the prosecution of a sitting City Council Member.

I had always thought that Jose Huizar was going to be the first Council Member to make the "Perp Walk" of shame out the front door of City Hall - placed in handcuffs and escorted to a waiting squad car. But now it appears a new contestant has risen to the lead in this race. Richard Alarcon is deserving of any incarceration and time he gets.

I'm no fan of Alarcon. I think he's a corrupt career politician, an egomaniac, and an all-around creep. I mentioned this in my piece on him for the Mayor Sam Blog called "The Tyranny of Richard Alarcon".

Let's be clear about one thing: Alarcon did not live in the District he was representing.

Maybe the most damning part of the Times article was the description of how he tried to get the City Council boundaries changed so he could actually include his real residence in his district.

--In the summer of 2007, The Times reported that after Alarcon was elected that spring, he asked then-2nd District Councilwoman Wendy Greuel to support an attempt to redraw boundaries so his wife's Sun Valley home would be moved into his 7th District. Greuel represented the 2nd District until she was elected city controller last March.--

This statement makes Alarcon the worst type of politician. A self-serving, selfish, egomaniac who only considers his own needs. A man who will bend the rules to fit his own selfish purposes. This is a very dangerous type of person to elect to political office. But, his elected days may now be over, thanks to the L.A. Times. Alarcon is now busted , judging from statements of neighbors who report that the house has been vacant for a long time.

--Three neighbors, a day-care worker at the Panorama Children Center next door and a man who has been living in a motor home next to Alarcon's house said they had not seen anyone living in the home recently. Steve Folden, who lives across the street and said he is the neighborhood watch block captain, said he had noticed no one living in the house for at least three years.--

Alarcon can now be charged with a felony. Voter registration fraud.

Fantastic news for those who hate corrupt career politicians.

This didn't happen by accident. Alarcon pissed somebody off and they ratted him out to Cooley.

All City Council Members have enemies. Some have more than others.

The "Fredo Corleone" of City Hall stepped on one too many toes, I guess.

Cooley may even have had Alarcon under investigation for some time now.

If that is the case, Alarcon may be serving time instead of serving constituents.

The Most Important Man In America

For the next few days, Massachusetts State Senator Scott Brown is going to be The Most Important Man In America. In the race to replace the late Ted Kennedy in the U.S. Senate, Brown has pulled nearly even with Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley. In what is often called "the bluest of states", a Republican victory by Brown would be a political earthquake. Of course, the liberal left is in full panic mode for Coakley, who performed poorly in a recent debate and seems to be letting a secure Democrat Senate seat slip away.

The purple shirts of the SEIU have been called into action and the Democratic Senatorial Committee has been ordering TV ads. They may be coming a little too late for Coakley, who has made multiple missteps during the campaign. She criticized Brown for campaigning "out in the cold" by shaking hands outside a Patriots playoff game. She admits to doing almost no personal campaigning during the election, saying that "there isn't time."

She also watched an aide rough up a reporter, then claimed to have no knowledge of the event, even though cameras and photos caught her looking directly at the incident in question.

Money is pouring into Browns offices from people across the nation. Conservatives across the country realize that if Brown wins, then the Obamacare program is officially dead, as Brown would become the 41st vote to oppose it.

I am hoping and praying for a Scott Brown victory next week.

Freedom Hating Liberals at City Hall

The folks over at the Mayor Sam blog seem to have taken issue with the fact that I don't appreciate the Socialist nonsense coming out of City Hall. I have become fond of using the phrase "Freedom-Hating Liberal" to describe many of the City officials because that is exactly what they are. They all make a big show about proclaiming to be concerned with the freedoms of others, but when it comes right down to it, they want you to do exactly what they want!

Michael Higby , Joe B., Paul Krekorian and some of the other eco-warriors up in Sunland-Tujunga seem to prefer that we get around using a horse and buggy. They don't want trees cut down, or roads widened.

And they certainly don't want the progress, jobs, or goods and services of a Home Depot.

That's a shame, because they are infringing on the rights of other residents to have access to those those services. They are also infringing on the rights of that corporation to build new stores and create new markets where none currently exist.

It's very similar to the previous nonsensical ravings of "Comrade" Jan Perry.

Perry decided that she would be the ultimate decider on food issues for her Ninth District residents. In Perrys esteemed opinion, her residents were too fat, stupid , and lazy to be trusted to make wise decisions regarding their own food consumption. Perry would need to be be the ultimate decider for her unhealthy residents.

Perry tried to have all new fast food establishments banned in the Ninth District.

More Freedom Hating from Tom Le Bonge: He won't allow smokers to smoke at outdoor patios at restaurants who specifically had set those areas up to comply with previous freedom-hating rules by the City and State. This just drives business to other surrounding areas and reduces income for City restaurants.

Paul Koretz couldn't wait to get in on the Freedom-stealing and decided that residents of L.A. no longer have the right to get their cats declawed. What!!?? How, exactly is that a government issue?

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa decided that shippers at the Port of Los Angeles needed to pay billions in new fees to buy his union buddies new trucks. The shippers decided otherwise - and sent billions in business to other ports, crippling dockworkers jobs and hobbling the economy in Los Angeles.

I agree with Michael Higby's Mayor Sam blog on one thing.

There is some shark-jumping going on here in Los Angeles, that's for sure.

But not by me.

Update: Krekorian continues Socialist ways

A rather disturbing development as Michael Higby over at the Mayor Sam Blog continues his fanboy behavior in supporting Budget-destroying Socialist Paul Krekorian. Recent events have exposed Krekorians NIMBY-like tendencies in his attempts to rule over CD 2 like some sort of pocket-sized dictator.

But hey...it's a free country, and if CD 2 prefers a Council Member who stands in the way of progress and says you may not cut down trees or widen roads, well.... who am I to argue?

I guess that Home Depot might have potentially delivered jobs to a City that is currently standing at about 18% unemployment. Good thing Joe B and his band of troublemakers got in the way.

One side note for Sunland-Tujunga residents: The economic devastation of liberal government, when played out in its entirety, ends up with all cities looking like Detroit , Michigan.

Large blocks of abandoned land have been reverted to a natural state. Wildlife can be seen running around inside the City. And the trees, in the long run, will be safe from the humans.

Here's a peek at the future for Los Angeles residents who, like Higby, prefer Socialist leaders.

President Rick Perry - 2012

My current prediction is that Texas Governor Rick Perry will become the next President of the United States.

I firmly believe this for several reasons.

1) I believe Barack Obama will mismanage this country into a state of crisis. He has never been in charge of anything, and so far has put a lot of lunatics - nutty liberals, communists and radicals - in charge of government departments. By 2012, the GOP will easily be able to advertise Obama as incompetent and unqualified.

The results will speak for themselves.

2) Any nominee the GOP puts forward will be a heavy favorite. The crushed economy will not create happy voters in 2012.

3) People who believe in States Rights have a champion in Governor Perry. He realizes the FED has gone too far and is not shy about saying so.

4) He is a tough-talking Conservative with a big set of brass cajones. Voters admire tough leadership. Perry will provide that in 2012.

I believe he will run and he will win.

I look forward to working on his campaign.

Willie Brown admits his guilt in destroying California

Assembly Speaker Willie Brown recently made a stunning political move by admitting both his and the Democrats blame for destroying California with selfish, self-centered, liberal budget-busting schemes.

"The deal used to be that civil servants were paid less than private sector workers in exchange for an understanding that they had job security for life," Brown asserted. "But we politicians -- pushed by our friends in labor -- gradually expanded pay and benefits . . . while keeping the job protections and layering on incredibly generous retirement packages. . . . This is politically unpopular and potentially even career suicide . . . but at some point, someone is going to have to get honest about the fact."

Brown has now admitted his guilt.

The People vs. Craig X. Rubin

Former Mayoral Candidate Craig X. Rubin appears in court this morning to answer charges that could put him in prison for several years. I covered this story in the past for the Mayor Sam Blog, but Craig was given a "holiday delay" and his case was pushed back into 2010.

Rubin will be in court this morning, Wednesday, January 6th at 8:30 AM at the Airport Court building at 11701 S. La Cienega.

I have stated before that I am no fan of the pot shops springing up all over town, but I am even more concerned with our government creating a totalitarian state. A government that has the power to declare Marijuana illegal then has the same power to declare tomatoes or onions to be illegal also. It concerns me because declaring a naturally occurring substance to be illegal violates inherent laws of nature. The laws against Marijuana have always been about controlling human behavior. The laws have nothing to do with the plant itself.

Rubin will be presenting an argument that his actions were protected under Californias "Compassionate Use" Act - Prop 215. The result of 215 was, basically, that it just about made marijuana legal here in California because the law was so poorly written and lacked definition.

One other interested observer is former Mayoral Candidate David Saltsburg, who usually refers to himself by his nickname "Zuma Dogg". Rubin and Zuma Dogg got into a personality dispute during the Mayoral race, and the dispute seems to never have been cleared up. There are obviously still some hard feelings between the two former rivals.

Zuma Dogg noted the irony in the current situation, in which Rubin is the one who could be facing time in jail or prison.

"It's Karma," stated Zuma Dogg.

Defeating Diane Watson in 2010.

I have committed my entire year of 2010 towards the goal of defeating the incumbent Congresswoman in the 33rd Congressional District of California, Diane Watson.

Some may view this attempt as foolhardy, others would probably consider it suicidal.

I'm a Conservative Republican who is running in a District where 82% of the voters are registered Democrats.

The odds for success are not high, but true leaders...the ones who change the world, don't take these factors into account when they make their decisions.

People like George Washington, Martin Luther King Jr., and Mohandas K. Gandhi faced odds that seemed not only astronomical, but also a bit suicidal.

But these true leaders understood something that other men didn't.

They knew that you don't pick a fight because it is convenient.

You don't choose sides in a struggle based on whether or not you have the better chances for victory.

We already have far too many leaders here who do just that.

You choose your battles based on the certainty that you are absolutely, positively right.

I am 100% certain that Diane Watson is one of the worst elected leaders in American history.

She received a rating of "4" out of 100 by the ACU. She does almost nothing.

Her biggest achievements are naming Post Offices after deceased performers.

Her adulation and praise for Communist dictator Fidel Castro is troublesome.

Her Socialist/Communist ideologies are job-killers and economy destroyers.

Diane Watson is a Dangerous Enemy of Freedom.

Sometime this week I'll be taking a trip to the County Recorder/Clerks Office in Norwalk.

I'm going to pick a fight.

Pension Crisis in Los Angeles

To quote my friend Zuma Dogg, "CITIZEN ALERT!! VOTER ALERT!!"

The pension crisis in Los Angeles is threatening to destroy any type of budgetary planning that the City is working towards.

Watch this video. I don't particularly care to hear some of the things Julie Butcher is saying.

The assessment of $37K /year for average pension benefits as "poverty" is more than ridiculous.

"The average City Worker doesn't retire very young", Butcher says.

I think that is baloney.

There are hundreds of thousands of people who live and work here in Los Angeles who don't even make that much money and they work full time. Yet they have money taken out of their pockets to cover the expenses of people who are not working.

City workers and Unions have been voting themselves excessive benefits and pensions for quite some time.

It stems from the liberal mindset of "entitlement" that is so destructive that it has managed to nearly destroy U.S. cities like Detroit.

The City cannot afford to continue down this path.
