Senator Marco Rubio of Florida gives the best possible reply to Barack Obamas State of The Union speech.

It was a big mistake for the GOP to let this guy stay out of the 2012 mix. If he had run, I think he would have become almost like our own John Kennedy for the GOP. He would have massive swarms of followers.

He would be pulling away from Romney and Gingrich right now, because he doesn't have their political baggage.

The fact that he is the number one name on every political list of VP candidates should tell you something.

Maybe we have the wrong guy at the top of the ticket.

Advantage, Romney

A few days ago when Newt Gingrich routed Mitt Romney in the South Carolina primary, I thought it was the turning point in the campaign. Now, I'm not so sure.

Gingrich had an uncharacteristically poor performance in the Florida CNN Debate, and he may tumble a bit. I actually think Romney will win Florida because of his massive advertising budget there.

It certainly didn't help Gingrich when several GOP leaders came out and bashed him in public, including former nominee Bob Dole.

I still think Gingrich can fire up the base in a way that Romney never will.

But I see a clear path to the nomination for Romney if he continues to do well. He made the ballot in all 50 states, whereas Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum missed a few ballot deadlines or requirements.

Romney may not get to the convention with the necessary delegates, because Gingrich and Ron Paul will hound him all the way to Tampa. But if he gets there with a plurality, there will be pressure on the others to step aside.

I'm predicting a 6 to 7 point win for Romney in Florida, and a big win for him in Nevada.

That should slow down Newts momentum coming out of South Carolina.

Romney is not out of danger yet, but he is looking like he's in the best position so far.

Liberals incensed at Arizona Governor

You had to expect this.

The liberal media went ballistic yesterday after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer had a meeting with Barack Obama on an airport tarmac. Brewer delivered a hand written letter welcoming him to Arizona and bragging about the recovery in Arizona.

Photographers caught a photo of Brewer addressing the President that was probably misinterpreted. It appears as though Brewer is wagging her finger in Obamas face and chewing him out, but more likely it was just Brewer caught in the middle of a hand gesture.

Liberals, as is their wont, immediately assumed grievous racism and held table panel discussions on all the liberal media talk shows. They were overly pious as they described the hateful and hurtful actions of Governor Brewer.

It is true that there seems to be no love lost between Brewer and Obama....but the media probably overplayed this to stir up controversy. If Brewer was truly that confrontational, Obama could have simply skipped meeting with her.

Destroying Romney

The last few weeks haven't been too kind to me. I go to Pasadena to watch my beloved Badgers get beat by Oregon. Then as a new part-owner of the Green Bay Packers, I travel home to Green Bay to see them lay an egg in the playoffs after a 15-1 season.

While at home in Green Bay, my top choice for 2012, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, drops out of the race. Perry never recovered from some stumbles in the debates.... and it cost him the White House.

At least one thing seems to be working out for me, though.

Newt Gingrich is wrecking Mitt Romney. Absolutely destroying him.

Not that I'm a fan of Gingrich, but at least Gingrich has done a few Conservative things in his life and held the line against Socialism when he was working as Speaker of The House.

Romney was wandering around in squishy liberal-land when serving as Governor of Massachusetts.

Mark my words... Gingrich will win big in Florida and rout Romney the rest of the way.

Gingrich is far from perfect, but he can gut Romney like a fish.

Romney won't even say mean things about Obama.

That is not the mood of the voters this year.

The Iron Lady

As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, I've been getting a lot of screeners mailed to me in recent weeks. The different studios are promoting their films in return for possible votes in the SAG Awards.

Great variety I've been getting in the mail ...The Artist, Moneyball, The Help, Bridesmaids. All films I hadn't gotten around to seeing in theaters.

Last night I watched a copy of "The Iron Lady" with Meryl Streep, which tells the story of how Margaret Thatcher rose through the ranks of the British Conservative Party to become the United Kingdoms first female Prime Minister, and one of the most powerful political leaders ever to take charge of any country in the world.

Streep is amazing and clearly did a lot of work for this role. The other ladies who are contending for Best Actress at the Oscars this year don't need to bother writing a speech.

Streep is a lock.

The film was inspirational, as I admire Thatchers tenacity, but one aspect I didn't like was its focus on her later years when she started losing her memory and had to be "handled" by officials assigned to care for her.

Overall, though....it was good work and will win many, many awards for Streep.

Forget Newt, Obama is the one in trouble

One of the chilling facts about the South Carolina Primary results for Democratic Party activists is that people turned out in large numbers. And they didn't turn out in large numbers because they were happy.

In fact, the excess turnout in South Carolina dwarfed the vote totals from Iowa and New Hampshire. South Carolina is a larger state and may be more representative of what is actually going on in the country as a whole.

Voters are unhappy about high unemployment, high gas prices, staggering foreclosure numbers, and the breakneck speed of the runaway national debt.

I find it funny that Democrats talk about Obama getting re-elected. I think he could get routed. He might lose 40 states.

Don't worry about Newt Gingrich...he'll be just fine.

Obama is the problem. He always has been.

Giffords resignation long overdue

Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords will resign her position this week, causing a special election in Arizona to fill her seat. In my opinion, her actions are long overdue.

Giffords was badly injured in an assassination attempt in Arizona a year ago. A deranged gunman with mental issues also killed several others in that shooting. Giffords took a bullet that traveled through the left side of her brain. She is extremely lucky to even be alive.

The left side of the brain is the part that controls speech and communication. Giffords was left severely impaired, similar to a stroke victim. It was clear to everyone involved that Giffords would never be the same again. She could not read or understand the complex legislation she would be required to cover in her job. She could not give complex speeches in order to defend her votes nor could she vocally encourage others to support her.

If she had been an airlines pilot, there is no way they would ever let her fly again. If she had been a police officer or race car driver...again...she would be unemployed for life.

But because she was a Congresswoman... which is basically office work (much of it done by staffers) she was allowed to continue on for an entire year.

Voters had sympathy for her situation, and I don't believe they would have forced her out until the next election. However, at that point, her mental impairment would become an issue that her fall opponent would have to discuss. Nobody wanted to see that. So Giffords is stepping down.

I think it is the right thing to do. I just think it should have happened sooner.

When Giffords and her staff realized how badly she had been harmed, she should have stepped down immediately. The job of Congressional Representative is bigger than the person serving it. There had been others who had served Arizonas 8th District in the past, and there will be many fine other Representatives serving it after Gabby Giffords is gone.

Having the voters of Arizonas 8th District adequately represented is what is important here.

Sympathy for Giffords needs to be set aside in the greater pursuit of good governance.

A Deal With The Devil

Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina GOP Primary last night. He won big, flattening Mitt Romney, who had been leading in the polls there for weeks.

How did he do it?

For Newt, it has always been about the debates. Newt is mentally sharper than most of the other candidates, and he knows his material well. When John King lobbed him a softball to open the debate the other day, Newt crushed a bases-loaded grand slam home run. He denounced the media for digging around in his failed marriage. The audience stood and applauded.

I don't think they were applauding his adultery, but rather the fact that voters had heard enough about that issue and Gingrich was bringing out the "Angry Newt" that is so entertaining to voters.

This man - who was down and out of the race after his Greek cruise with Callista last summer - is now poised in prime position to win the GOP Nomination. Since 1980, every winner of the South Carolina GOP Primary has gone on to be the party nominee. Mitt Romney desperately needs Gingrich to self-destruct in Florida, because a Gingrich win there will only accelerate his eventual victory.

The problem with Romney is that he is unloved by Conservatives who don't trust his former liberal rantings while serving as Governor of Massachusetts. Newt Gingrich, on the other hand, is not the GOP dream candidate by any means. Like I said in a blog post the other day, Newt Gingrich is a prick. He has a haters heart. He is mean-spirited and ill-tempered. He has explosive diva-like tantrums. Not exactly what you look for in your party flag-bearer.

However, Newt has a contempt for Barack Obama that you can almost taste. It reflects deep yearnings by party faithful to destroy Obama and remove all his conspirators from Washington. This is what drives voters to Newt. He hates Obama as much as they do.

Certainly, making Newt Gingrich the GOP nominee is like striking a deal with the devil.

But if the prize is an Obama-free America, then GOP primary voters seem to be willing to pay that price.

Americas Last Chance

If they vote for Romney, the GOP will have a general election candidate who is very liberal and not much different than Barack Obama.

If they can give victory to Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul or Rick Santorum, then the campaign continues.

Newt Gingrich is a prick

I watched the sensational moment above last night and it dawned on me why so many Republican voters want Newt Gingrich to be the GOP Nominee in 2012.

Newt Gingrich is a prick.

And I say that with all the respect due of a man who might eventually become the nations 45th President.

Politics is not for the faint of heart. Leaders have to be willing to hurt the feelings of their voters. Leaders have to fire people. Ruin careers. Shatter hopes and dreams. Tell people they are not getting what they desperately want. Gingrich can do these things in his sleep.

Newt Gingrich is clearly the meanest, nastiest person the GOP could ever run against Barack Obama. His intensity level is off the charts. He holds lifelong grudges. He has a haters heart, and some voters seem to like that about him.

There is no doubt that Gingrich would run Obama through a meat grinder in the debates, and many GOP voters are practically salivating at the possibility of seeing that happen.

Me? Not so much.

I'll give Newt Gingrich credit for doing some Conservative things back in the 90's. He helped the Republicans re-take the House, which was huge. And he also seems to be willing to eliminate government programs like Obamacare.

My reasons for my mild dislike of Gingrich have to do with his love of Big Government policies and solutions. And his weakness and nutty policies towards illegal immigration. (Really, Newt!?! We can't deport 12 million illegals, but we can drag them, Gestapo-like, in front of some bizarre "community standards" board to decide their fate? Really Newt!?! Really?)

My interest in his personal life is non-existent.

I fully acknowledge his failings in his marriages and his infidelity. Relationships are tricky things and anybody can have a relationship that doesn't work out. I don't blame anyone for that.

However, I do question the integrity of a person who can't be honest with their spouse.

Could Newt Gingrich do the job of being President of The United States?

Absolutely. I have no doubts about his intelligence or capabilities to perform the job.

I just don't like the idea that while serving as our President, I could never trust that guy, or turn my back on him for five minutes.

I have already had that feeling for three years now.

I don't need it for four more years.

What?! Perry dropping out?!

There are rumors flying around the internet this morning that Texas Governor Rick Perry is going to drop out of the GOP Presidential race. They even hint that Perry will endorse the bomb-throwing diva and Big Government lover Newt Gingrich.

I hope to God this is not true.

This is a nightmare!

I will be watching CNN in about 15 minutes to figure out where this is going.

Jon Huntsman: Heretic

Shhh.

Did you hear the sound of a pin dropping?

Oh, yeah. That was the sound of former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman dropping out of the Presidential race. It was a news item so unimportant that nobody noticed.

Huntsman had zero chance of getting the GOP Presidential Nomination, anyway.

Why, you ask? Because Huntsman was guilty of ideological heresy. He said crazy things.

During one of the debates, he had the unmitigated gall to say "I believe in global warming and evolution...call me crazy." GOP Primary voters did exactly that, as Huntsman never went above the single digits in most polls, and finished a distant third in New Hampshire after being camped out there for nearly a year.

He believed in things that you cannot believe in if you expect Republican voters to vote for you. Most Republican don't believe in global warming and many question the theory of evolution.

Huntsman acted like both theories were unquestionable fact. He may as well have been a Democrat.

Also, the fact that he was working with Barack Obama in a Democratic Administration didn't sit well with primary voters. Huntsman was not trusted, and now he is gone.

Huntsman has chosen to endorse the Massachusetts Moderate Mitt Romney as his pick for 2012.

Wow. What a surprise.

The moderate Mormon supporting the other moderate Mormon in the race. Who could ever have seen that coming?

South Carolina must stop "The Massachusetts Moderate"

The voters of South Carolina will have a disproportionate say in who becomes our next President. If they do not deliver their Conservative votes en masse to a solid candidate, then Mitt Romney will be celebrating election night and he will probably coast to the GOP nomination.

I am asking the voters in South Carolina to do the right thing.

Give all your votes to Perry. Or even to Gingrich or Santorum.

But please, for the love of God, stop that Massachusetts Moderate!

Romney is "Obama-lite".

Less spending than pure Socialism, but with all the Freedom-destruction and government bureaucracy you can handle.

Dark days in Titletown

The Green Bay Packers were defeated by the New York Giants yesterday in their NFC Divisional playoff game. Soundly defeated. At one point in the fourth quarter, the Giants were up by three scores.

Fans at Lambeau Field were left scratching their heads and wondering....how could this happen?

Well, simply put, the Packers played poorly. Fumbles, interceptions. Dropped passes and missed assignments. The team that went 15-1 in the regular season and looked like they were headed for Super Bowl 46 will instead watch that game on television.

I had a great seat for the game. Third row of the Lambeau Leap section.

Unfortunately, there were no visitors.

The effect of this short movie is devastating. It portrays Mitt Romney as a Corporate Raider who attacked American businesses and made a profit out of putting them out of business.

Some of the facts are indisputable. These people who lost their companies and their jobs due to Bain Capital are not mistaken about who was involved.

This is why Mitt Romney cannot be the GOP nominee in 2012. If Obama and the Democrats can accurately portray him as a villain, then the election is lost before it begins.

I'm praying that the people of South Carolina have the common sense to vote for any one of the other candidates but Romney.

Romney wins New Hampshire GOP Primary

In a result that came as a surprise to no one, Mitt Romney won the GOP Presidential Primary held in New Hampshire last night. Some of the southern populated counties in New Hampshire are basically regarded as suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts...where Mitt Romney used to be Governor. It was about as close to a home field advantage as you can get.

Moderates and liberals all over New England streamed home to the polls to vote for one of their own. It was a very dark night for Conservatives. Myself included.

I see very few positives from this result.

The GOP is now probably going to have Romney as our candidate. Unless somebody can beat him in South Carolina....which I put at only a 50% chance...Romney will win there and in Florida after that and then the race will be over.

Romney is the best financed of the candidates. He has been running for six years and has a certain polished smoothness that comes with doing this for so long. He makes few mistakes. Maybe he can appeal to Independents. Maybe. I don't know.

I find it very difficult to accept that the father of Obamacare -- Mr. $50 abortion -- Mitt Romney...is going to be the GOP nominee for President.

One tiny side benefit is that Romney could beat Obama in New Hampshire. Sure, it is only 4 Electoral College votes, but taking those away from Obama and giving them to Romney creates a 8 vote swing. Very damaging to Obamas chances. Romneys Mormon faith would also position him to win Nevada, which has a large Mormon voter contingent.

Right now, Romney has a 80% chance of being the GOP Nominee. Somebody else would have to catch fire in a hurry to beat him.

Mitt Romney is Gordon Gekko

Opponents of GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney have found his Achilles heel. It is a weak point so devastating that it probably precludes him from being the GOP nominee in 2012. They have found their narrative. Their sound bite.

Mitt Romney is Gordon Gekko.

As CEO of Bain Capital, Romney oversaw the dismantling of American companies and ended up throwing thousands of Americans out of their jobs. In a country that voted for Barack Obama in 2008, this is not a narrative that will win battleground states in the 2012 election.

Mitt Romney cannot be the nominee in 2012, because these attacks are too lethal to his chances in the general election. Republicans need to choose another candidate...and fast.

Santorum, Gingrich, Paul, Perry, and Huntsman don't have these poisonous facts about Bain Capital on their resumés.

As an aside...I'm not being unfair to Romney. I fully support capitalism and the opportunities it provides. But closing American companies and raiding their pension funds is a vile way to get rich. And voters will remember that fact on election day.

It is probably too late to stop New Hampshire, but South Carolina has two weeks to choose a new frontrunner for the GOP in 2012.

Our incompetent elected officials

Xavier Becerra.

A pure Communist with a heart full of hate.

Unfortunately, as one of his serfs, I am often at the whim of his decisions.

I emailed the Congressmans office and told him I wanted the official permission required to visit the White House when I am in Washington four weeks from now. February 9th or 10th.

That was five months ago. No word from him or his staff.

Now, being that my district is in urban LA and about 90% of the people here have no plans to visit Washington at any time whatsoever, I assume his office isn't overloaded with this type of request. However, I am quite certain that his office is filled with incompetent bureaucrats looking for a government teat to suckle at. I am sure the high salaries and excessive pensions in his office motivate the staff to provide exactly the non-existent customer service they currently provide.

I suppose it didn't help me to write blog posts like this about Becerra.

But do I really deserve to be blackballed just because I am a Republican voter in his highly Democratic district? I guess he and his staff think so.

I did not think it would ever be possible to locate an elected official as worthless as Karen Bass, but Becerra is making things interesting, to say the least.

I'm also upset at Antonio Villaraigosa, who took dirty laundered money in his 2009 re-election campaign and has refused to return that money. I called and asked his staff for answers... no response for months now.

Same thing for the Ethics Department. I asked them for answers about the laundered money. They didn't have any answers.

And of course, we have as the final act, The Dark Lord.

I emailed Councilman Krekorians office over one year ago. I'm starting to think I'm not going to get a response.

But hey, when you write blog posts like this one... you get yourself blackballed from a lot of political graft and gift-giving that goes on in this corrupt city.

New Hampshire Debate

Saturdays New Hampshire Debate was, by far, the worst debate so far in this 2012 campaign.

Candidates bumbled around wasting time talking about contraception and who had actually served in the military.

The main goal -- which was for all the other candidates to team up and stop Romney -- didn't happen. Romney got treated fairly lightly by the moderators and the other candidates.

George Stephanopoulos asked an idiotic question about banning contraception. It didn't go over very well with the candidates or with the audience.

Ron Paul defended calling Gingrich a "chickenhawk" for refusing to do military service while wanting to send others off to war. Gingrich tried to excuse himself by saying he was married and had children. Paul responded with the biggest blow of the night by saying the he also was married with children when he was drafted, and he went and served.

My candidate, Rick Perry, did better in this debate than in most of the others. He was getting ignored so badly that at one point he just jumped in and started talking. Good for him. He won't win New Hampshire, but he is steadying the ship for South Carolina.

Rick Santorum gave some interesting answers, but nothing that moved him up in the polls.

Gingrich gave a scathing review of the bias of the Obama Administration against the Catholic Church. It was a topic nobody had covered in the campaign. It worked well for him.

Near the end, Huntsman made some type of wisecrack in Mandarin Chinese.

That, along with his Kurt Cobain jokes is why his campaign is a train wreck and he will be dropping out of the race after he gets pummeled in South Carolina.

In the end, Romney looked smooth and Presidential. He refused to get into the gutter and get dirty. He will win New Hampshire and take a big lead on the others heading to South Carolina.

¡Alarcon 2012! The crime spree continues...

Sometimes, things happen in the Los Angeles political game that are difficult to wrap your head around. Other times, things are fairly predictable.

The photo above is of City Councilman Richard Alarcon on the steps of the Criminal Courts Building after being indicted on over 30 charges of voter fraud.

So, of course....the next natural step for Alarcon would be... resigning in disgrace, or fleeing the country with his ill-gotten gains...right?

No way! It's re-election time, baby!

Alarcon has filed papers with the County Clerk to run for the State Assembly seat he bailed out on years ago. Alarcon is counting on the stupidity of the voters in the 39th Assembly District. He figures...hey....they were dumb enough to vote for him before... well... why not one more time?

In way, you have to admire the chutzpah.

Few people in the world are this arrogant.

I have an intense dislike of Alarcon, based on his pathological dishonesty and his tendency to fill city positions with talentless relatives.

I was joyous over his indictment last year, but have been bitterly disappointed by his failure to serve a single minute of time behind bars. I've also been disappointed in the voters of the 7th District failing to recall him or demand his immediate resignation.

If they truly are that dumb, maybe Richard Alarcon will be able to continue his crime spree at taxpayer expense.

How Rick Perry can win South Carolina

1. Forget about Iowa. Iowa tends to vote for strong anti-abortion candidates. But they couldn't get Mike Huckabee into the White House and they probably won't get Rick Santorum there, either. Let it go. Move on...quickly.

2. Start traveling and spending money in South Carolina. It is crucial to the Perry campaign to finish near the top in South Carolina. A bus tour is required.

3. Appeal to South Carolinians as an authentic Southerner. Paint the others as Northern liberals. Big government meddlers.

4. Talk up the 10th Amendment. Remember that this is where the Civil War started and many Southerners still hold a residual grudge over an overbearing and oppressive Federal Government.

5. Get some military commanders to back your campaign and put them in TV ads. South Carolina is loaded with military and ex-military. Talk up the Commander-in-Chief angle of the Presidency. Mention how the others might not be ready.

6. Remind South Carolina voters of Romney, Gingrich, and Santorum voting for and supporting massive government spending while in office. Throw around the phrase "Romneycare" a few times.

7. Forget about the Ron Paul voters. You weren't going to get them anyway, but neither were any of the others.

8. Get some of the other big name Southern Governors out on the campaign trail for you.

9. Raise more money. Santorum and Gingrich are almost broke.

10. Don't quit. Sweat it out. Grind out the days. Outlast Gingrich and Santorum to become the only "Anti-Romney" left. And you will win.

Rick Santorum teaches Christine Essel a lesson

Retail Politics.

That's how Rick Santorum won the Iowa Caucus.

(Well, technically he didn't win, but he made it a statistical tie with front-runner Mitt Romney.)

Santorum spent months in Iowa, going to small gatherings and civic functions and giving speeches to small crowds.

My preferred candidate, Governor Rick Perry of Texas, tried to do a drive-by on Iowa. He tried to use his big money to win the election. He spent millions on TV ads. It didn't work.

In the end, the voters preferred the man they had seen in person repeatedly for months at various local social functions. A backyard barbeque. A softball game. Rick Santorum was there. Shaking hands. Smiling. Charming people face to face. And it worked.

Santorum is now one of the top three candidates for the GOP nomination. The winner of the nomination has a decent chance to defeat Barack Obama in 2012.

Rick Perry ended up spending over $4 million dollars in Iowa. It worked out to about $400 per vote. That is mind blowing.

We had a situation here in Los Angeles where a lady named Christine Essel was running for City Council. She had connections and money, as she was a former executive at Paramount Pictures. She ended up spending over a million dollars running for this city council seat, and she lost.

My friends and I have often theorized that if Christine had spent all her time knocking on doors and shaking hands, she would have won. She is a charming lady with a bubbly personality. She could have routed Paul Krekorian.

Instead, she listened to bad advice and sent 157 mailers to every household, which ended up pissing people off. She ended up spending about $80 per vote received. At the time I joked that she would have done better if she had just walked about Council District 2 handing out $100 bills.

Santorum spent about $30,000 of his own money in Iowa....working out to about $1 per vote.

He beat Rick Perry, who saturated the airwaves with TV ads.

Rick Perry could also have walked around Iowa handing out $100 bills and he would have done better in the election.

But both Rick Perry and Christine Essel could learn a lesson from Rick Santorum. Sometimes it is the personal touch that counts in politics.

Gee. Just fills you with confidence over our 2012 chances, right?

Anyway...let's get to the down-and-dirty analysis...starting in reverse order.

Jon Huntsman

Huntsman is a fool. You don't ignore the Iowa Caucus if you are running for President. History has shown that winning there (Mike Huckabee) doesn't always send you to the White House...but a poor showing there doesn't help, either. Huntsman should have checked with President Giuliani before deciding to blow off Iowa to chase votes in another, later primary state. Huntsman will get blasted in South Carolina, and he will be out.

Michele Bachmann

I have to admit to a soft spot for the Minnesota Congresswoman. I identify strongly with her ideologically, and could have supported her, but I felt she had a very thin resumé with very few accomplishments. She is tough, and a fighter... but sometimes your own personal passions are not enough to carry you to an election victory, as I have learned myself. I think Michele raised her profile and she should go back to Minnesota and run for Senator or Governor. I would love to see her take Al Frankens Senate seat in 2014.

Rick Perry

My own personal choice for the 2012 GOP nomination did not do well in Iowa. Rick Perry spent millions on TV ads, yet got poor results. His campaign has been hampered by the poor debate showings, which caused many to abandon him for other candidates. However, he is still viable because of his financial backing. Santorum and Gingrich are both almost broke and it will be difficult for them to continue on through all 50 states. Perry has the financial strength to continue this campaign. But he needs to finish near the top in South Carolina, or I think he will be done.

Newt Gingrich

Gingrich is still a viable candidate, and if he can survive to land more knockout blows in further debates, he will be OK. But this fourth place showing in Iowa did not help. Gingrich is still the most talented candidate and the biggest threat to Obama. Voters will have to overlook a mountain of baggage to make him their choice, though.

Ron Paul

Crazy old "Uncle Ron" continues to perplex the Republican establishment by refusing to go away. Ron Paul will not be the 2012 GOP Nominee. His foreign policy opinions are considered too dangerous to national security for far too many of the 2012 primary voters. He will plod along all the way to the GOP National Convention, piling up delegates, and then he will make a nice speech before the real nominee gets to the stage. His supporters will make a big noise in Tampa, but that will be it for Ron Paul.

Rick Santorum

To be honest, I don't know a lot about this former Senator from Pennsylvania. I had written him off from the start because he had lost badly as an incumbent Senator in 2006. But I agree with him on many issues. I think Iowa tends to vote for very strong anti-abortion candidates. They did it for Mike Huckabee in 2008, and they did it again last night with Rick Santorum.

Could Santorum go all the way and become President? Maybe. I don't know. But I do know that Iowa has catapulted Santorum into the top 3 just like they did for Mike Huckabee in 2008. Huckabee stayed near the top for the rest of that election and went to the Convention in St. Paul with a lot of delegates, but just not enough of them to win. At least for the rest of this primary season, Santorum is here to stay.

Santorums speech last night was amazing. It was so good that I rewound the DVR and watched it two more times. This guy is good. Very good. Maybe not as good as the Big Mouth in the White House....but he can definitely hang out on the same playing field.

I found myself very moved, emotionally, by his speech...and I don't even know anything about this guy. But Iowans obviously do. Santorum spent months shaking hands and attending small social gatherings with only a few dozen people in attendance. He did this the hard way...and he deserves this result. Congratulations to him and his team. But having said that, it leads us to....

Mitt Romney

I have made clear my disdain for this abortion and socialized-medicine-loving liberal from Massachusetts. I do not want him to be our candidate, but some in our party do. They see him as a sanitized moderate who won't offend anyone and won't make any mis-steps on the way to the White House. He is seen as the "safe" candidate for our party to choose.

God help us if we keep thinking this way.

The problem with Romney is that he really doesn't give anyone a specific reason to vote for him. And I think that could spell 2008 all over again in 2012.

Having said that, I acknowledge that Romney has been running for President for 6 years and has been building up the connections and endorsements you need to win a nomination. I think that with this win in Iowa, combined with his big win in New Hampshire next week that he is 75% of the way there for the nomination. He would have to stumble badly to blow it at this point. And I don't see that happening.

The Man From Paint Creek

Today has finally arrived. The Iowa Caucus is here and we begin the selection process to decide who will be the candidate to try and replace Barack Obama in the White House. I'm guessing that Tim Pawlenty is filled with regret right now for dropping out so early in the race.

No, Tim Pawlenty won't be the choice today. Neither will Herman Cain.

Today is kind of a make-or-break moment for some of the GOP Presidential candidates.

Those who finish near the bottom in Iowa will find little reason to continue their campaign.

Polls are saying that Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are leading, and it is highly likely that one of them will win the Iowa Caucus. I have a strong suspicion that it will be Ron Paul to win today. A Caucus is very different than an election. There are no voter lists or messy registration papers to deal with. All you have to do is cram a bunch of your supporters into a meeting hall and shout and scream that you support a certain candidate. To be quite honest, that is exactly what Ron Paul supporters are good at. In fact, when it comes to fanatical support, it is very difficult to top them.

Mitt Romney will do well. "Mr. 25%" rarely goes above or drops below a certain support level in the polls. He's not exciting, but for many voters, he will do.

I think that Jon Huntsman and Michele Bachmann will be dropping out soon enough. Their support is minimal, and barring some unusual surprise, tonight should be a very somber moment for them.

Me? I'm staying with the man from Paint Creek. Sure, Rick Perry bungled a few answers at the debates. But he has also been repeatedly re-elected Governor of Texas. He has been the steady captain of the worlds 13th largest economy. And he has made Texas such a desirable place to do business in that people are moving there in droves.

He helped create a positive situation for job growth, which is exactly what this election is going to be all about in 2012.

When it comes to guessing what type of leader these candidates would be, there are some clear facts out there on Rick Perry.

Unlike the other choices, we don't have to guess what type of leader Rick Perry will be if he goes to the White House.

We already know.

Yesterday at a Mothers forum in Iowa, Newt Gingrich had an emotional moment talking about his Mother, who had suffered from bipolar issues. It wasn't a big sobfest as the media made it out to be... hardly any tears at all...but I certainly think it didn't help his chances to win the Iowa caucuses.

Perception can be huge in politics. Michele Bachmann had a top staffer abandon her campaign to go and work for Ron Paul. A SuperPac switched loyalties from her to Mitt Romney. As a result, her image and standing have taken a huge hit, and she is faltering badly in the polls. She's going to lose and finish near the back of the pack. Even though she technically didn't do anything wrong to deserve that. People just felt she couldn't win, and they are walking away in big numbers.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews savaged Newt Gingrich on his program. He went around asking all the people in the Java Joes coffee shop in Des Moines if they felt Newt was faking it, or if it was real, or if Newt was too emotional or "just tired" from the campaign. All of them had various answers, but nobody actually stood up and defended Newt.

Matthews also had a very touching, very insightful dialogue about "crying in politics". He mentioned Ed Muskie in 1972 and a variety of other candidates who has been caught crying during their campaign...including Hillary Clinton.

Matthews delivered a fantastic monologue about how there often is crying in politics. He mentioned how sometimes it happens in an election night hotel ballroom full of dejected supporters. Sometimes it happens on Air Force One on the way back to a White House that you need to move out of in the next 60 days. But it happens. More often than you think.

I don't think Newt was overly emotional yesterday.

It wasn't this moment that is going to do him in. It was the 30-40 million dollars in negative TV ads being run by his opponents in Iowa. That was what sunk him.

A month ago Newt Gingrich was flying high, his stellar debate performances had him topping the polls in just about every state. Then his opponents decided to land some body blows on the new front-runner with negative TV advertising.

Newt didn't have the money to fight back, and it is going to cost him the White House.

That fact is something that just might be worth crying about.

Obama/Clinton 2012?

There is an interesting article out there today by Robert Reich that mentions the possibility of an Obama/Clinton ticket in 2012.

Reich suggests that Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden swap job titles. Biden becomes Secretary of State and Clinton becomes the VP candidate in 2012.

Reich is a smart man, and this would be a clever play by the Democrats to get Obama re-elected.

Hillary supporters would turn out in large numbers to get America its first female Vice-President.

However, I don't think this is going to happen.

Hillary Clinton is getting older and seems to think she is done with politics.

She has stated that she doesn't plan to continue her job after 2012. She sounds like she is retiring. But you never know -- she might be talked in to it if Obama is struggling in the polls.

The second reason I don't see it happening?

Obama doesn't trust the Clintons.

A lot of the Clintons political enemies end up committing suicide in very unusual ways.

Wonderful news today as Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska announces that he will retire and not seek re-election in 2012. His decision was probably best for everyone involved.

Nelson became derided as one of Americas most hated political figures after he became the vote that flipped and gave the Democrats the magical number to pass Obamacare.

In order to secure his vote, the Democrats used all types of bribery...eventually offering him the biggest bribe ever in Congressional history.

The Cornhusker Kickback.

Democratic Senators wanted Obamacare to pass so badly they eventually offered to make all medical costs free for people in Nebraska. It was the honey that Nelson could not resist.

Even some Democrats in Nebraska were offended by this act of public corruption, and Nelson was facing declining chances of being re-elected, anyway.

This gives the Republicans a dominating chance to take this seat and help win back the Senate to Republican control.

As a side note, if I am elected to Congress this fall, I intend to act with fellow House Republicans to launch an investigation into the Cornhusker Kickback. If necessary, I intend to see some of my fellow Congressman arrested and jailed for their involvement with this act of bribery involving public funds.

Senator Nelson and Senator Landrieu need to spend time in a jail cell to discourage this type of political corruption in the future.

Newt : "Victory or Death"

It reminds me of this funny poster below.

Newt sure can tell a good story.
I think he has a great career ahead of him as a narrator, because I don't think he's going to be President. He is too prone to the odd statement or the emotional outburst.

He will probably sink himself.

But in many ways, Gingrich reminds me of General Washington.

Wandering around in the wilderness, desperate, and broke.

Then in the debates he comes running in and quickly sticks the knife in everyone.

Turns things around completely.

Newt is facing his own "Victory or Death" moment in the next few weeks.

He might be able to pull it out.

I'm certainly not going to bet against him.

He has already made the media look foolish for pronouncing his campaign "dead" before even one debate had been held.

The Republican Party of Virginia needs a revolution!

If you haven't heard the latest news, several of the leading GOP candidates for President will not appear on voters ballots in this 2012 primary season.

Why? That's a very good question.

I have never been fond of ballot restrictions of any kind. They only discourage people from being involved in politics, and they are basically designed to help keep the status quo in power.

What possible reason does Virginia have to keep people off a ballot?

The only reason I can think of is that you might want to require more than $5 and your own signature so that you don't have half the town running for office as some type of prank. But even this is a bit of a dangerous trespass into Constitutionally guaranteed rights to participate in elections.

10,000 signatures? This is clearly oppressive, and might even be illegal.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was established specifically because local jurisdictions were doing things that were discriminatory. They were trying to keep people off ballots and stop them from voting.

I think this set of rules in Virginia would not withstand a court challenge. The practice is discriminatory against everyone who is not a well-funded and highly-staffed candidate. Basically, lawyers can argue these signature requirements fall under the Voters Rights Act, because these rules are preventing people from participating in elections.

I know about these drawbacks personally. The City of Los Angeles has restrictive rules that require 500 valid signatures from registered voters to get on a ballot. Again, this requirement is unfair to underfunded or understaffed campaigns. In certain sections of the city, there are very few registered voters! We have one pinhead of a City Councilman who regularly wins elections in his district with 2,000 to 3,000 votes total in a city of 6 million people. Yet he and any interested opponent are required to go out and search for those 500 registered voters, even though they may be difficult to find.

Virginia may be concerned that making their rules too lax may result in chaos. They may be afraid of a situation like the California recall election of 2003, where there ended up being 135 different candidates for Governor, including a porn star (Mary Carey) and a comic actor (Gary Coleman). Yet somehow, voters managed to wade through page after page of candidates, and they managed to avoid voting for the porn star and the comic actor. They voted for Arnold Schwarzenegger, who in a weird way ended up being a little bit of both.

Now the Republican Party of Virginia, in their total ineptness, has decided to disqualify a man who has already served as the third most powerful elected official in America. A man named Newt Gingrich.. who actually lives in Virginia!

Virginia needs to change their rules and change them quick.

When you disqualify FIVE of the seven candidates for President, your system is broken.

The fact that it was the Republican Party of Virginia checking these signatures and disqualifying people from the ballot is absolutely unacceptable. I consider this an act of fratricide, and the Virginia GOP needs to pay a price for this.

I strongly suggest an uprising from the GOP members in Virginia.

County Party leaders need to quit in massive numbers. They also need to threaten to stop all financial support of the Virginia GOP. They need to threaten to form alternative organizations.

This ballot nonsense in Virginia is unacceptable. Many voters have already watched these candidates debate on national TV for several hours.

There is absolutely no justifiable reason to keep them off the ballot.

Those idiots who say "rules are rules" don't get the bigger picture.

If Virginia has the right to demand 10,000 valid signatures, then Florida has the right to demand 50,000 signatures. And of course, stupid California would then probably demand 1,000,000 valid signatures.

The military in Egypt is fully out of control. This horrifying video of a large pack of soldiers mercilessly beating two unarmed women is a symbol that things need to change and change quick if they don't want to face full-blown revolution there.

The citizens won't put up with this any more and they will soon face small arms fire from their own citizens if they don't clean up their act.

I would suggest their President, or General, make some type of statement to the press.

This type of behavior is not acceptable.

Yesterday, I got into it a little bit with State Senator Ted Lieu, the useless Dhimmi who wastes taxpayer time and money demanding that the Loews Home Improvement store not pull their advertising off of a terrible TV show called "All American Muslim".

Why does he do things like this?

I don't know. He's a Democrat. They seem to like doing things like this.

Anyway, yesterday I responded to a tweet of his to let him know that sometimes people discriminate against Islam because Muslims constantly try to murder other non-Muslims.

(They are actually required by the Koran to do this.)

If you see the tweet above, Lieu calls me a bigot... in a private message.

Nothing new... I've been attacked 100 times before.

Yes, I'm anti-Muslim because I don't agree with people who want to murder me.

Liberal lies about "Big Oil"

When I was running for Mayor of Los Angeles in 2009, I was involved in a debate among the candidates at UCLA. In this debate, I think I may have uttered my best political line ever.

Frustrated by listening to the two Socialist candidates bash capitalism and talk about how evil it was, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the microphone and tell them how wrong they were. I went off on them with a long rant about how they were wrong in every possible way.

I ended by shouting: "Capitalism doesn't oppress you! Capitalism makes your life possible!"

I didn't think about it at the time, but it may have been the best moment of my campaign.

Indeed, most liberals live in a fantasy world where they think that gasoline appears at gas stations by "magic". They feel that oil companies are "evil" for providing a crucial product on which the entire American economy depends.

I have never understood that type of thinking from them.

Big oil companies go out into very harsh conditions to capture oil resources. Frozen Alaskan tundras. Deep sea, underwater big-rig drilling. It isn't easy. Not everyone can do it.

In fact, gasoline is expensive because very few companies in the world can do this.

The refining process, which most liberals know almost nothing about.. is quite fascinating.

You don't just pour raw oil into your gas tank. It has to go through a process called "fractional distillation" in which the oil is super-heated in order to cause it to break down into various hydro-carbons. These are separated to make things like gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuel, road asphalt and thousands of other plastic products. Almost nothing is wasted from the distillation process.

Oil is everywhere in our daily life.

Check out this list of products that are made with oil, it just might make you think about how important and crucial oil is in our lives. We couldn't live our modern, covenience-filled lives without it.

These big oil companies go out and get that oil for you, they distill it, transport it, and sell it to you at a price that you are willing to pay. And yes, they make a profit doing this.

Why shouldn't they?

These big oil companies are not evil and they are not destroying your life or oppressing you.

They actually make your life possible.

We don't need fewer of these companies in the world.

We need more of them.

The Passion of The Jeb

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush wrote a terrific article in the Wall Street Journal where he defends Capitalism and says that as human beings we all have "the right to rise".

The article was well-received in Conservative circles and sparked talk that maybe Jeb could be talked into to running in 2012. In fact, several big names in the GOP are supposed to talk to him about this within the next few days.

Bush is a huge name in politics, and as the former Governor of Florida, he could really lock that state down and make it extremely difficult for Obama to be re-elected in 2012. It is easy to see why so many want him to run.

The problem with this is the time line. A candidate starting out this late has missed a few ballot deadlines and wouldn't be on the ballot in a few states.

However, a big win in Iowa could get most of the remaining field to drop out, meaning that even a small, committed write-in campaign in other states would most likely be successful.

Even showing up at the Convention in Tampa with a majority of the delegates would be enough to get the job done.

Could Bush be tempted by the weak showing of the field so far?

Who knows? My guess is that it is unlikely.

But if he decided to give it a shot, having two former Presidents from your family showing up onstage with you at campaign events is something the other candidates can't offer.

A Bad Year for Bad Guys

Kim Jong Il is dead.

Add him to the list of Osama Bin Laden and Muammar Ghaddafi as another one of the 20th Centurys all-time bad guys who won't make it very far into the 21st Century.

Kim Jong Il was actually kind of a putz who was in over his head.

It was his father, Kim Il Sung, who was the true evil madman.

Kim Il Sung ruled North Korea like he was Joseph Stalin.

I remember that I was actually in South Korea when Kim Il Sung died in 1994. It caused total fear and chaos. The South Koreans were afraid of a power vacuum. Air raid sirens were going off. People couldn't stop talking about it.

Sure, Kim Il Sung had been the devil, but he was the devil they knew.

There is now talk that the son of Kim Jong Il is too young and too incompetent to take control of the country. That wouldn't surprise me. These "inherited" transfers of power have never been a good idea. There is no merit involved.

I'm hoping this will situation will finally cause North Korea to collapse and lead to a reunification with the South.

A History Lesson for Ron Paul

This video from Glenn Beck is a little history lesson for the dangerously naive Congressman Ron Paul.

Ron Paul claims that all attacks against America are based on the American government meddling in the foreign policies of other countries.

He couldn't be more wrong.

Ron Pauls ignorance betrays a very basic fact of human nature.

There are evil and dangerous people out there in the world who want to kill you and take everything you have.

While I won't deny that a few attacks against America have, indeed, been policy based.... many other attacks have happened simply due to the evil nature of the perpetrators.

Muslims, for example, have a history of over one thousand years of violence, rape, robbery, and murder of non-Muslims.

Google "Barbary Pirates" and find out how they were attacking Europe for much of the 1500s through the 1600s. They captured and enslaved over 1 million Europeans.

Politics had nothing to do with it.

Eventually, their raids on our European shipping caused Thomas Jefferson to create the United States Marine Corps to go over to North Africa to fight them.

Memo to Ron Paul.

Muslims in the Mediterranean were killing people over 200 years ago.

We hadn't dropped a single bomb on them.

America barely even existed at the time.

Their hostile attitude has never changed.

I have made it clear in the past that I have mixed feelings about Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

I admire his attitudes towards government spending, but I hate his foreign policy attitudes.

If Ron Paul had been President back in the 1940's, the Nazis would still control all of Europe.

If you are going to throw accusations at people, you damn well better be able to say it to their face. Ron Paul didn't say these things when standing in front of Michele Bachmann or Rick Santorum at the debates... when he could have.

Iowa Debate Recap

A quick recap of last night's Iowa Republican Presidential Debate. I actually watched it a second time to make sure I hadn't missed anything, because I was live blogging and tweeting at the same time during the first run, so sometimes I miss an important fact or two. (Thank God for DVRs)

Overall, the debate was the best one yet, because Fox was running the show. Instead of some hair-brained liberal moderators, the audience got intelligent questions that gave valuable insight and answered specific things that voters wanted to know. There were no "Coke or Pepsi" questions in Iowa last night.

Let's start with the leaders....

NEWT GINGRICH

The former Speaker of the House was, as usual, far ahead of the pack when it came to quickly processing information and superior knowledge of political issues. You just can't beat Newt in this area. His brain is like a supercomputer and he can instantly retrieve small bits of data or old, forgotten information from the 1980s or 90s.

Newt took a few punches last night, but came away without any major damage. Michele Bachmann and Mitt Romney landed some blows, but the extremely clever Gingrich managed to spin his way out of trouble on several occasions. He tried to excuse his way out of taking money from Fannie/Freddie, but didn't come away convincing many in the audience that he was righteous there. Bachmann punched him again on abortion, but Newt declared his bona fide pro-life history. Overall, Newt did reasonably well. He got the crowd pumped up when he bashed Obama and the power of the unaccountable judges of the Ninth Circuit Court.

Newt is still one of the favorites, but due to his mercurial nature, he could also be one big blow-up away from torpedoing his way out of the race completely.

MITT ROMNEY

Mitt Romney has been running for President for about 20 years now, and it shows. Romney was by far the smoothest and most polished candidate last night. He didn't make any major errors, and like Gingrich, tried to spin his way out of troubling issues from his past. I especially liked his preview of his attack on Obama for running GM and firing people and cutting dealerships.

Romney didn't do anything to help himself...he just stayed where he is...which is pretty good position being in the top 2 candidates just three weeks before Iowa votes in their caucuses.

I still consider Romney a horrible RINO and a soul-less flip-flopper, but I accept that he might actually be our candidate in 2012. He has always been near the top for over one year, so he has some staying power. Also, the establishment seems to be getting behind Romney because Newt Gingrich scares a lot of GOP voters with his wild and erratic behavior.

RICK PERRY

Rick Perry was charming and folksy. He didn't get a lot of questions, but he was a lot better prepared for them this time around. If only he had been willing to do some debate practice a few months ago... (sigh)

RON PAUL

Ron Paul is supported by legions of activists who are known by the derogatory nicknames "Paulistas", or "Paulbots" or "Paultards" -- depending on who you are talking to. Ron Paul veered off the path of Conservatism and into his own little world of naive Libertarianism when he talked about Iran. He seemed almost happy that Iran would be getting a nuclear weapon soon. His attitude was "Why not?"

Ron Paul was attacked by Michele Bachmann, who called his attitude "dangerous"... and most of the audience seemed to agree. Despite this collateral damage, I think Paul still has an outside chance to win Iowa. His supporters are quite fanatical and will come running from several states to support him in Iowa. He will finish in the top 4 and continue his campaign. That is almost a given.

MICHELE BACHMANN

Bachmann was good last night...solidly Conservative. She spent a lot of time attacking Newt, Mitt and Ron Paul. Unfortunately, telling the voters how bad Newt is doesn't make you suddenly the best candidate. Michele has always had a "vision" problem. Nobody knows where she wants to lead the country. Yeah...she hates Obama...but who doesn't?

I fear Michele is falling behind. If she doesn't finish in the top 3 in Iowa, she will be out by Super Tuesday because her money will dry up.

RICK SANTORUM

I'm not really sure why Santorum is even running. He's a good Conservative, yes... but... you want to come into a Presidential race on a hot streak. You want to have won a race recently. Last time Santorum ran as the incumbent Senator in Pennsylvania, he got his ass kicked.

The polls are not wrong. Santorum has little to no support, and he will not win Iowa.

JON HUNTSMAN

Any guy who goes to work for Obama is not a Conservative. Huntsman sucks and his whiny, snotty attitude has always rubbed me the wrong way. He is clearly perceived the same way by GOP voters. He has little to no support, and he'll be long gone by Super Tuesday.

GARY JOHNSON

One of the funniest people in the debate is former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. He wasn't at the debate, but he was tweeting about it all night like a kid in detention.

He kept tweeting things like "I'm the only pro-choice candidate!"

And "I'm the only pro-gay-marriage candidate".

Yep...those stances worked out so well that he's been denied access to most of the debates.

He is supported only by that 1% of GOP voters that hold those same opinions.

It is over one year now since he was criminally indicted in August of 2010!

I watched a rerun of the Iowa Debate to get a read on what is happening in the 2012 GOP field and I didn't like what I saw. It seems that the media is giving us two awful choices to be the GOP nominee: Evil Newt or Phony Mitt.

I'm a Rick Perry supporter, so watching his gaffes in the debates and his subsequent drop in the polls has been upsetting for me. We are just weeks away from the vote in Iowa and I'm not sure Perry can make up that ground...even though he did well in the Iowa debate.

Newt Gingrich is of questionable moral fiber. He's a serial adulterer who will cheat on his wives at the drop of a hat. However, this didn't prevent Bill Clinton from getting into the White House and I don't think it will stop Newt from getting there, either.

Newt has also been guilty of all manner and fashion of "ideological heresy" when it comes to Conservative policies. He sat on the couch with Nancy Pelosi and talked about global warming. He supported the traitorous Dede Scozzafava in the New York Congressional race. He continually spins his way out of troubling questions about big-government policies he has approved or worked on in the past.

For all his failings, Democrats are actually afraid of facing Gingrich in the general election. The reason? They can't do anything in their campaign ads to make him more unlikeable! All of his negatives are already out there for everyone to see.

MSNBC talking head Chris Matthews has a serious fear of Gingrich, saying that Newt is "the type of guy that would come after President Obama with a broken beer bottle."

Indeed, he would.

Gingrich is resonating with voters because of his former status as Speaker of the House of Representatives. He is also doing well because he is saying the things voters want to hear. He says he will destroy Obamacare. He says he will erase Obamas legacy from Washington and undo all the damage created by the 44th President.

Voters like hearing these things.

They didn't like hearing about his squishy views on immigration, or about his $500,000 credit card bill from Tiffanys jewelry store.

They did, however, like hearing his tough talk about solutions for America. His criticisms of the poor not having an established work ethic. For the Democrats, this was cruel commentary from someone whom they view as an evil and heartless man, but it rang true for many voters.

The most telling moment of the night happened when Gingrich and Romney sparred over Israel. Romney accused Gingrich of stirring the pot of violence with his comments about the Palestinians being an "invented" people.

Gingrich stuck the knife in Romney by responding that he considers himself a "Reaganite" and will continue to speak truth to power and call evil "evil"... even if it "confuses the timid".

It was a lethal blow that exposed Romney as a weak, spineless political figure with no true moral core. It only confirmed what voters had suspected all along.

Mark my words. Romney is done. This nomination belongs to Newt if he can avoid blowing up in the next three weeks.

Terrorist attack in Hollywood

It appears that another terrorist attack has taken place in America, this time in Los Angeles, near the intersection of Hollywood and Vine.

Witnesses say that a crazed gunman, screaming "Allahu Akbar" was running around in the street firing at random passers-by in their cars.

I was actually only about a mile down the street when this happened, but I was unaware of the event until watching the news later that night.

The terrorist attack ended about as well as could be hoped for. There were some injuries, but it seems like the terrorist was the only one killed in this rampage.

Thank you, LAPD, for your professionalism in stopping this guy before he hurt a lot more innocent people.

I'm from the Midwest and I know how people are there. This ad will go over very well with the more Conservative voters.

Today, December 6th, is my birthday and it is going to be a good one.

In just a little while, I'm going to go online and purchase some stock and become a part-owner of the Green Bay Packers. I've always wanted to do this my whole life, but I missed the last stock sale offering in 1997. These opportunities don't come around too often.

My best birthday ever happened when I turned 25. I was living in Taipei, Taiwan and teaching English at a variety of different schools, including the Mei Chia Christian University for women. Word got around and about 80 people showed up for a party at a local pub. Tons of gifts...I was a little embarrassed by their generosity. And the Chinese had a custom of taking their finger and swiping some frosting off the cake and smearing it on your face. So that was weird...but funny.

Yes, it would be tough to top that birthday, but today might come pretty close.

I'm about to become a part-owner of the Green Bay Packers.

Herman Cain: Charlatan

I never believed in Herman Cain. Not for one minute.

I always believed that Cain was a charlatan, a fraud, and a trickster.

It bothered me that anyone was willing to support him at all, much less a large percentage of Republican voters.

It had always been my belief that Herman Cain was running for office just to build his name brand. He wanted to sell more books. He wanted to increase his speaking fees. And he will do all of those things, but he will never be President of The United States.

Cains campaign eventually sunk under the weight of allegations of sexual harassment and the accusation that he had conducted an extramarital affair for 13 years. The accuser, Ginger White, had proof that she and Cain had been contacting each other and staying at the same hotels while on his speaking travels.

I had taken an instant disliking to Herman Cain from the very start. At one of the earliest debates, he answered a moderators question by saying he "didn't know why we were in Afghanistan".

Didn't know? Did he miss watching the news on 9-11?

And this guy wanted to be President?

I'm just glad and grateful that Cains campaign imploded before he got too far down the road to the nomination. Can you imagine this scandal blowing up just before the general election?

Cain says he will continue to be a voice in the Republican Party.

He can talk all he wants, but I'm not interested in listening to a guy who seriously jeopardized GOP chances to defeat Obama in 2012.

Yesterday was a horrible day for me.

Watching my alma mater, the University of Wisconsin, play for the Big Ten Championship was nerve wracking and nausea-inducing. The Badgers were losing for a large portion of the game, but managed to pull out the win in the final four minutes. The Badgers were seeking redemption against the Spartans, who had ruined the Badgers season with a fluke play - a hail mary touchdown pass as time expired - in their first game back in October.

Now, I get to go back to Pasadena on January 2nd and see them play Oregon.

To be honest, I'm not optimistic about that game.

Oregon has been very powerful this year.

It's going to be another rough day for me.

An Odd Footnote to History

GOP Presidential candidate Herman Cain will have a press conference today where it is widely expected that he will drop out of the 2012 Presidential race. Even if he doesn't choose to do this, the decision is actually irrelevant. The recent revelation of Cain having an extramarital affair for 13 years is too damaging to his chances, and his window of opportunity was already closing even before this news because of previous sexual harassment allegations.

Herman Cain is on his way to becoming an odd footnote in American history. A GOP contender who was at one point #1 in many polls, but was derailed because of issues that had nothing to do with politics.

The infamous ad with his campaign manager smoking a cigarette is burned into many peoples memories.

And this wasn't even the worst ad Herman Cain came out with.

If you put out piffle like this ad, you won't last long in a Presidential race.

Newt Gingrich : Serial Hypocrisy

I can't believe I'm doing this. I can't believe I'm putting a Ron Paul ad on my blog.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Texas Congressman. I like some of his ideas about finances and money supply issues, but I hate his foreign policy attitudes. I believe they are naive and dangerous for our country.

However, Newt Gingrich has to be stopped. And Ron Paul has come up with a blistering attack ad that uses Newts own hypocritical comments against him.

We already know that Newt is a serial adulterer, which raises character issues about him.

We also know that Newt was having an affair with his staffer Calista at the same time he was trying to impeach President Clinton for doing the same thing with Monica Lewinsky.

Now we know he profited off of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, who he enjoys demonizing on the campaign trail as the worst examples of big government.

His hypocrisy knows no limits.

Yes, he is a smart guy and a talented debater, but he is also a pretzel-like politician who is willing to twist himself into whatever political stance is convenient at the moment. Newt lacks character, and I don't want him being the nominee....which is a real danger now, as Iowa is only a month away and Gingrich is leading in most of the national polls.

Newt is a mercurial man, and I can only hope he reverts to form and implodes before the first votes are cast in Iowa.

I have to give credit to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa this morning. He finally acted like he was the Mayor of Los Angeles. It only took him two months to do it, too.

My mind was spinning over the new, stunning hypocrisy from Villaraigosa. Thirty years ago, he would have been one of the troublemakers. Now, he was the one ordering them arrested.

LAPD moved in with massive force. Over 1,400 officers in riot gear swept the City Hall lawn and removed all the dirty hippies. There was a firestorm on social media, as Facebook and Twitter lit up with millions of users here in Los Angeles who were interested in the event.

Somebody mentioned to me that the Conservatives I know were being a little mean-spirited about it. I told this person that these dirty hippies had wasted millions of taxpayer dollars to no useful purpose. Their assembly was illegal because that City Hall park is closed from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for reasons of safety and sanitation.

Their pathetic excuses about "free speech" were all bullshit. This was a Socialist/Communist beehive of activity and no other viewpoints were allowed to participate! Community activist Zuma Dogg went down there and tried to sing the Bee Gees hit song "You Should Be Dancing" and he had people physically attacking him within 60 seconds because he was not in charge of the mob and did not have their permission to speak freely to the crowd.

The facts are evident. This rally had nothing to do with freedom or the First Amendment.

If these hippies really wanted to change the direction of society, maybe a few of them should have shown up for the 2009 Mayoral election. If they had acted in great numbers, they could have elected their fellow Socialist agitator Carlos Alvarez as Mayor.

He would have let them camp out there forever.

Hell, he would have let them run the City.

Villaraigosa 2011 = Carter 1979

With news today that the British Embassy has been stormed and burned by radical students in Tehran, I found myself noticing the similarities between our incompetent Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and our incompetent President Jimmy Carter in 1979.

Both elected leaders were confronted by the confusing actions of a leaderless, and lawless mob. Both situations dragged on for an unbearable and unreasonable length of time. Both Villaraigosa and Carter acted by showing their weakness instead of their strength. Both of them will continue to be seen as bumbling fools for the rest of their lives.

Both Villaraigosa and Carter failed to act in a decisive manner, which eventually jeopardized not only their futures as political leaders, but their inaction also continued to jeopardize law and order in general.

The Jennerjahn Solutions

What Jimmy Carter should have done is what I would have done. I would have let the Iranians know through diplomatic channels that they had three days to release the American hostages, and if they would not comply, I would address the American people on television and let them know I was going to the Congress and asking for a Declaration of War against Iran starting on the fourth day.

My televised address would have included the phrase, "The attack and kidnapping of our Embassy staff is not only an Act of War against America, it is also an Act of War against the civilized tradition of diplomacy itself."

If Iran did not comply, the missles and bombs would have been flying by the end of the week.

Would Iran risk the destruction of its cities? Difficult to say.

But this situation would never happen again... I guarantee you that.

Villaraigosa needed to have gone to the media early and declared the Occupiers to be breaking the law. He should have warned them to leave, and then used force. But he should not have given them a specific hour. Just tell them to be gone by the end of the week or something.

Then, if they didn't leave... tear gas and fire hoses.

Their protests are violating the rights of others, and continue to be a safety and sanitation issue. And Villaraigosas incompetence in handling this issue shows that he should not be elected to another political office for the rest of his life.

Villaraigosa can't be trusted to handle the looters and lawbreakers in our society...because when it comes right down to it... he's one of them.

I knew this eviction was going to be a problem when they announced it ahead of time. It should have been a sudden sweep in the middle of the night. This "scheduling" of the eviction gave protesters time to build their forces.

I was down at City Hall just a few hours before the midnight deadline. I was stunned to see about 1,000 hippies on the steps of the south side of City Hall. They would need hundreds of police to move them all.

So, of course, the pansy that Villaraigosa is...it's not going to happen.

At least not tonight.

Our Pathetic Mayor to finally evict Dirty Hippies at Midnight

After months of allowing protesters to blatantly violate the law, Mayor Villaraigosa has finally come to his senses. Seeing that other Mayors have had the courage to evict protesters from public property in various cities has finally made Villaraigosa realize that he is the most pathetic, and weakest Mayor in America.

Sensing jeopardy to his future political ambitions, the Mayor was forced to make a decision to evict the Occupy LA crowd from the front lawn of City Hall.

The fact that the Occupy LA crowd could never clearly explain why they were protesting didn't help their cause. Their cause was always kind of vague. Something about the world being "unfair".

I have stated before that if I had been elected Mayor in 2009, these protesters would have been gone long ago. Tear gas, fire hoses... whatever it takes. Villaraigosa allowing this to go on for two months is just pure anarchy. But that is no surprise coming from this ethically-challenged Mayor who cheated in the 2009 elections.

Something happened yesterday that maybe only people in the Southwest are concerned about, but it bothered me.

The University of Texas Longhorns played what might be their last game ever against the Texas A&M Aggies. The two teams played last night for the 118th time. It was a legendary matchup that had spanned generations. Now, it will be over as Texas A&M moves to switch conferences and will leave the Big 12 and play in the Southeastern Conference with Alabama, Auburn, LSU and the others starting next year.

Texas A&M is running away at high speed from the situation in the Big 12. They are not the only ones. Nebraska left last year to go to the Big Ten Conference, and Colorado left to go to the Pac-12. Missouri is leaving to go to the SEC next year, also.

Oklahoma-Nebraska was another legendary matchup that won't happen anymore.

Missouri had played Kansas for 119 years. Their rivalry was so intense it was called the "Border War, based on historical feelings about confrontations that happened between those states during the Civil War. That rivalry disappears as Missouri leaves for the SEC next year.

I like history, and I think this long term history disappearing over money is a terrible thing for our culture.

The blame can be laid directly at the feet of the University of Texas.

Successful, competitive football conferences use the NFL model and equally share revenues, guaranteeing all teams a chance to be competitive. Texas, because of its size and importance, didn't like to play by those rules. The weak little sisters of the Big 12 like Iowa State and Baylor had to take their lumps on the field... and a smaller share of revenue. It guaranteed that top teams like Texas and Oklahoma would always be on top.

Eventually, a few teams got smart and decided to leave. In 2010 and in 2011, there was a crisis as the Big 12 almost caved in, with multiple schools looking for another conference home.

Eventually, the conference may have been saved as Texas eventually gave in to equal revenue sharing... but it may be too late. The conference was badly wounded by the departure of four quality schools.

I wish this whole can of worms had never opened up. Many fans across the nation will miss these historic rivalries, which will probably never return.

I think college sports is worse off for all of this.

Can Jose Huizar really be this dumb?

And this is not a rhetorical question!

City Councilman Jose Huizar has been involved with the supervising and licensing of various marijuana dispensaries across the City of Los Angeles for several years now.

He and his fellow Totalitarian Democrats on the Council have conspired to try and legislate their way into everyones lives, non-stop, for multiple years now. Included in their devious schemes was the lottery system to decide who could and could not open and operate a marijuana dispensary in Los Angeles. But this is all coming to an end because the City of Long Beach recently lost a lawsuit filed by a dispensary owner that said they had no right to control or license the dispensaries because marijuana is still a Federally prohibited substance. This sets a legal precedent that the City of Los Angeles would lose a similar lawsuit and have no control over the dispensary business. And that is completely unacceptable to the Council.

In a snit of anger, petulant crybaby Jose Huizar will go to the Council tomorrow and suggest a total ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.

To quote the regal Huizar "I hereby ban thee!"

Jose Huizar went to Princeton and UCLA Law School. With that educational background, how is it possible that he could be this dumb?

First of all, I have said here before on The Jennerjahn Report that I don't agree with the Federal Government trying to dictate which naturally occurring plants are legal and which are illegal. It is like the famous quote about trying to control the speed of light with a bullwhip. It violates Natural Law and just cannot be done in a free society.

Secondly, the City is just buying themselves a bunch of expensive lawsuits from dispensary owners. The City of Los Angeles can't have it both ways. If you license and permit the dispensaries, you cannot turn around and ban them. This is the problem the ignorant and shortsighted Council members failed to understand when they got into meddling in this area in the first place. Licensing the dispensaries gave them legitimacy. They are most likely here to stay.

The hypocrisy, stupidity, and arrogance involved in trying to shut them down now is mind-bending. But not unexpected.

These clowns on the LA City Council have no love for freedom. They only desire more power and control over others. It's a sickness with them. Jan Perry (The Hamburglar) wants to control the diets of her fat, dumb, and lazy voters by controlling which fast food joints can and cannot open new stores in South Central. Paul Koretz (The Cat Whisperer) wants to control every interaction between pet owners and their little kitties....especially banning the practice of declawing cats. Paul Krekorian (The Dark Lord) has visions of dominion and control over others that are so sinister and all-encompassing that I will not list them here on this blog.

Medical marijuana activists have told me that they much more admired the stand of former Councilman Greig Smith, who hated the idea and let them know it from the start. They saved time and effort by never stopping by his office to chat about it.

Smith took a moral stand, and stuck with it.

They are puzzled and stunned by the sudden betrayal by Huizar.

He is the Marcus Junius Brutus to the dispensary owners.

And today, he will try to inflict a mortal wound.

The headlines today in the Daily News are difficult to understand.

Our idiot Mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa has not only refused to remove the "Occupy LA" crowd from city property, but now he is actively trying to "cut a deal" with these people to pick up and move to a different location.

As part of the bribe, the article says that land and buildings are being offered. A spokesman for the Mayor says they can't comment on these "negotiations".

Horror. Pure horror.

The occupiers have succeeded in showing that lawlessness will be tolerated by this City Administration. Other cities have shut down the occupy movement with arrests and pepper spray. But not here. Not L.A.

If I had been elected Mayor in March 2009, this protest would have been over in just a few days. I would have ordered police to remove these people using force. Any other reaction to this situation invites future chaos, disorder, and anarchy.

Todays news makes my defeat in the 2009 Mayoral election all the more unsettling.

Why the "Occupy Wall Street" protesters are wrong

Several incidents in the last few days have received media attention as "Occupy" protesters have been doused with pepper spray and evicted from tenement encampments at government locations.

Certainly, no sane person would argue that these people don't have the right to assemble and to protest peacefully. The problem here is that once you start camping out on City Halls doorstep, you are interfering with the rights of others to use public property. Also, these protesters have very twisted ideas about free speech. Like most demented liberals, you are free to speak, only if you agree with their political views/opinions. Local community activist Zuma Dogg found that out the hard way when he went down to Los Angeles City Hall and set up his microphone and tried to do some "free speech." He ended up getting attacked by an angry mob within one minute of starting his speech. Very interesting ideas about free speech they have down there.

The problem with these protesters is that they are all idiots.

It is not surprising that they don't understand basic economics, because most of them don't have a job.

They are actually protesting for more government interference in their lives. They want government to seize assets of the rich. They want government to dictate to corporations and take their money from them by force. They basically want the government to be the "Robin Hood" of the world. To steal from the rich and give to the poor.

The problem with this is...doing this will not achieve anything of positive value. Communist governments ran countries around the world for the last few decades. They dictated who would earn what, what products would be produced or sold, and at what price. In every case, they destroyed the economy and peoples ability to earn a living because they interfered in voluntary economic transactions between free people.

The OWS protesters could destroy all these corporations tomorrow. These corporations only exist because you willingly give them your money. Repeatedly. They give you a product you want at a price that you are willing to pay for it. They take your money in a voluntary transaction. The transaction happens because it is beneficial to both parties.

If you don't like what a corporation is doing to you, you can put them out of business tomorrow. Stop buying coffee at Starbucks. Don't ever go into a McDonalds again. Pull all your money out of Bank of America and put it into a local credit union. But let's be honest, the OWS protesters don't have the ability to get that project done. And they never will.

Government, on the other hand, is devoid or reasoning or common sense. Examples of government waste and abuse are legendary. Government interference in the market place only causes misery for all parties.

The protesters do have one legitimate complaint.

When large corporations make huge profits, they keep them. When large corporations have massive losses, they go whining and crying to the government that they need to have these losses socialized....to have the people pay for them.

This is a very dangerous idea that needs to be eliminated. Socializing failure with financial gain only creates a desire for more of it. People could start bankrupting their companies on purpose if they know there is a government handout waiting around the corner.

If the government had stayed out of private business, the housing market bubble would never have happened. Prices would not have soared astronomically because the artificial demand would not have existed. Now, it will take years for the real estate market to stabilize. The harm in this enormous industry has a ripple effect, as thousands of other housing-related businesses like construction get hammered with low demand.

If the OWS protesters had any brains at all, they would be protesting to get the government out of the free market...instead of trying to get them to control everything that happens in it.

Things can change quickly, and I'm sure that when the liberal media starts bashing on Gingrichs infidelity and his affection for big-government programs, his numbers will start to sink again.

Herman Cain, in my opinion, is done. He was always a version of the hit 1968 movie "The Producers" to me. He figured he could sell more books and make more money on the lecture circuit if he placed well in a 2012 run for President. And he will. But he won't be POTUS. No chance of that. These sexual harassment charges aren't going away. More and more women seem eager to talk about it. Adios, Hermanator.

No, the true danger Conservatives face is the frightening prospect of a flip-flopping RINO being our candidate in 2012. Romney is wimpier than John McCain, which doesn't bode well for the GOP in 2012. Even Conservative legend Ann Coulter seems to have gone off her rocker and is now throwing in the towel and saying about Romney that "At least he's better than Obama!".

Here's an interesting subject to debate.

As awful as Barack Obama is... did he actually do the GOP a favor by saving us from 8 years of President Hillary Clinton?

For the life of me, I will never understand how the Democrats could have thrown Hillary Clinton under the bus for Barack Obama. Not that I like Hillary (I don't) but she had probably the best resumé and the best chance for a political party to put a woman in the White House since women were given the right to vote in 1920. Clinton had lived in the White House for eight years and knew most of the world leaders on a first name basis. She was arguably one of the three or four most famous women in the world. She had served admirably as a U.S. Senator for eight more years.

Instead, the Democrats proved to the world that for them, sexism was more important and powerful for them than racism.

They chose a "community organizer" from Chicago. A man who organized thugs to terrorize banks and demand things from them that they didn't work for or deserve. A man with a shady past filled with shady, and criminal characters. Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright....

I've always made my dislike for the President obvious. He is a looter.

He has never worked to build anything of value...only to steal value from those who created it.

He is a perfect Federal Employee, to put it bluntly.

He has exploded our current Federal Debt to $15 Trillion dollars.

But with all the obvious damage he has done to our country, has he actually done the GOP a favor? I believe that his Socialist ideology has made him repulsive to many Americans, and made him very beatable in the 2012 elections.

Compare this to a possible President Hillary Clinton.

Clinton had the ear of one of the best political strategists on earth, her husband Bill.

There is no way that Clinton would have rammed through Health Care without allowing anyone to read it first. That was a Nancy Pelosi trick. There is no way that President Hillary Clinton would have exploded the budget deficit to $15 Trillion dollars. She may have expanded the debt, but done it gradually in a way that did not attract so much attention.

President Hillary Clinton would not have thrown Israel under the bus, as she knows how much her Jewish Democratic supporters and donors would not have appreciated those actions.

To put it bluntly, even with a struggling economy, a President Hillary Clinton would have taken a much more moderate and compromising path towards governing this country. She would have been much more difficult for the Republicans to defeat in 2012 than Barack Obama... the radical lefty who wants to Socialize America.

Yes, I know he screwed up at the debate by having a brain-freeze on a relatively simple answer, but that happens to most public speakers.

I don't see the incident as fatal to his campaign, like some others in the media do.

I think Governor Perry needs to have a sense of humor about the incident, and make a few jokes about it, and then move on.

I am, however, worried about Mitt Romneys lead with such a short window of opportunity ahead. Perry needs to get out there and explain to primary voters why a Massachusetts liberal is not the right choice for us.

Penn States "Crimes of Omission"

If you haven't heard about this scandal yet, you will.

Joe Paterno, a legend in college football, is about to be forced out at Penn State.

To explain his importance, Paterno has been the Head Football Coach at Penn State for about 45 years. There is a statue of him outside their stadium.

It has recently come to light that his assistant coach Jerry Sandusky molested several young boys....some of them right there in the Penn State football training facilities.

In 2002, a graduate assistant caught Sandusky sexually assaulting a young boy in the Penn State football shower room. He reported this to Joe Paterno, who reported this to the University President, but no other actions were taken.

No police were involved...and Sandusky went on to molest several other young boys over the years.

Paterno did what he was supposed to do, but it was a crime of omission. The police should have been notified. The University is basically guilty of covering this situation up...and may have bought itself some expensive lawsuits from the victims.

The whole situation is horrifying.

And it ruins the outstanding reputation that Joe Paterno had carefully built and protected for half a century.

A big day today as #1 LSU plays #2 Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

I will always have a life-long affinity for the Crimson Tide.

My father taught at the University of Alabama when I was a kid. As a faculty member, he used to get tickets to the games, so I got to see a lot of classic teams play, including the ones that won the National Championship in 78-79.

I attended elementary school at Verner Elementary, which was located about 300 yards from Bryan Denny stadium. Our school rented out its front yard for parking for the games.

The team practiced a few miles away next to the basketball arena. Coach Bear Bryant had a metal observation tower constructed next to the field, and you could often see him there.

One day I was watching the team practice and I snuck through a gate and got onto the field. As the team headed through a tunnel which led to locker rooms in the basketball arena, I snuck in behind them. Near the locker rooms, there were some giant, wheeled laundry baskets with equipment in them. I was looking at some of the team helmets when I heard a voice behind me.

"You best be careful son! You fall in that basket and we'll take you to Athens with us!"

I turned around and there he was. The legend.

Head Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant.

"Mr. Bryant!" I said. I stuck out my hand.

He shook it. His hand seemed enormous to me, as I was just a kid.

It was thirty years ago, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

Bryant would die just a few short years later, so I'll never have a repeat opportunity.

I have met a lot of famous people in my life, but this meeting stands out more than others.

Bryant is a legendary figure in Alabama, in a way that movie and rock stars can only dream of.

He won six National Championships for Alabama.

There is an enormous statue of him outside the stadium.

And on game day today, thousands of people will be posing for pictures with it.

A brief comment this morning.

I seriously think that NFL sportswriters and TV network analysts should consider Peyton Manning to be voted the NFL MVP this year.

So he didn't play? So what?

The true test of an MVP-caliber player is seeing what his team would be like without him.

Peyton Manning, this year, is living out a nightmarish version of "It's a Wonderful Life".

Two years ago, Manning led his team to a 14-0 record, before they let off the accelerator a little bit and dropped two meaningless games at the very end of the season while resting their starters for the playoffs. Peyton took his team to the Super Bowl that year.

Two years later...his team is 0-8 without him, and looking a very real possibility of an 0-16 season.

From Super Bowl to 0-16 because one player has a neck injury.

Sadly, I really think this is the end for the future Hall of Famer.

I don't think he ever plays again.

But I hope I'm wrong.

Is Peyton Manning really the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 2011?

Despite his extra-marital proclivities, the title of this blog post is not a cheap double entendre.

I was recently talking to an activist friend who says that Villaraigosa may have bought this City an entire years worth of troubles. How, you ask...?

I guess that the State of California has "squatters rights" laws on the books.

If this source is correct, then the squatters, who are using adverse possession to Occupy Los Angeles City Hall, may be obtaining legal grounds to stay.

My source believes that adverse possession of the property for 30 continuous days gives them the legal right to be there for the length of one year.

Can this be right? Calling Walter Moore!!

I only attended law school and am not a bar-certified attorney, but I would imagine someone at City Hall has got to have the common sense to prevent this from happening.

This whole thing is insanity.

The Dark Lord: Raising the Dead?

One issue that I had declined to blog about in the past was an accusation a while back about the City Council race in District 2. It had been reported to me that certain candidates were cheating. Certain candidates were -- allegedly -- using political party cronies to round up vote-by-mail ballots from the aged, feeble, or infirm at retirement/convalescent hospitals. They were marking them for their candidate and mailing them in. The low-budget candidates in this race did not have the staff or the financial resources to pull off this cunning and devious political power play.

I never got any hard facts from the people reporting this...but the post-election voter data shows too many statistical improbabilities for this to be an urban legend. A source who worked on one of the campaigns remembers looking at the voter data list months later and noticing that certain voters that were over 90 years old... who hadn't voted in multiple years...suddenly getting interested in voting in an obscure City Council race involving two big money spenders like The Dark Lord (Paul Krekorian) and The Beverly Hills Carpetbagger (Christine Essel).

One of the ladies who voted by mail was 103 years old.

Did she really break her multiple-year non-voting pattern to bust out a vote for Zuma Dogg?

Unlikely.

Occams razor is the theory that the simplest explanation is most likely the correct one.

It is my theory that The Dark Lord, assisted by his willing minions in the Los Angeles Democratic Party, is the only person who had the money and political connections necessary to pull of this Machiavellian power move.

I would prefer to think that this was the explanation. That Paul Krekorian cheated in the election.

The other possible option? It is nearly unthinkable:

Necromancy.

Don't think that I haven't noticed the similarities between Democrats and zombies.

Bob Hope noticed it too....

But to honestly think that The Dark Lord had now obtained the mystical power to raise the dead? And to get them to vote Democratic?

Chilling. I shudder to even think of the implications.

Herman Cain on the hot seat

Breaking news in the last 24 hours: Presidential candidate Herman Cain is spending time backtracking and excusing his way out of factual evidence that he was sued for sexual harassment back in the 1990s.

The two women involved received a small financial settlement and agreed to non-disclosure terms.

Now, there are a few things I want to point out here.

I don't dislike Herman Cain. He seems to have an impressive resumé and his experience in the business world might be something we could use in Washington. He might be very good in the job.

However, he has never been elected to any office -- and jumping into the White House is a mighty big step to take. There is a reason that the United States usually elects Governors or Generals. We like to have a person with government leadership experience at the top.

I have actually always felt that this run at President was just Herman Cain "building his brand" so that he could eventually win a race for U.S. Senate or Governor further down the road.

I don't believe he will win a single primary or caucus.

Things like this sexual harassment lawsuit are a perfect example. When it comes right down to it, most people don't know what Herman Cain was doing 3 years ago, or 5 years ago, or 10 years ago.

This leaves too much room for "gotcha" politics.

What else don't we know about Herman Cain?

We know what Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul have been doing for many years...they have been members of Congress. We know Mitt Romney has been running for President non-stop for about 6 years. We know Rick Perry has been Governor of Texas for the last 10 years straight.

But Herman Cain? He was the CEO of Godfathers Pizza. That is about what the average voter knows about him.

Now they know that he was sued for sexual harassment, and his poll numbers are going to sink like a rock, because the issue goes directly to his integrity. Politician John Edwards got caught cheating on his wife, and his career was ruined. Newt Gingrich could easily be the top candidate, except for the fact that voters don't trust him because he was an adulterer in his personal life.

Herman Cain hasn't helped himself by being less than honest about these facts. And he is starting to get his story mixed-up about what he knew and when he knew it. Again, these issues go straight to trustability and character.

Herman Cain better get his act together quick on this story, or he is going to find himself back in the single digits.

Occupy LA shows its true colors

This is a short video clip from our friend and City Activist David Saltsburg, better known to the public as "Zuma Dogg".

"Big ZD" as he also likes to call himself, decided to go down to Los Angeles City Hall and show the protesters there what free speech is all about. After all, ZD is one of the few people who has actually won a lawsuit in Federal Court against the City of Los Angeles for violating his free speech at Venice Beach.

Unfortunately for Zuma Dogg, the "free speech" part didn't go quite as well as planned.

Zuma Dogg was surrounded by an angry mob that started jostling and shoving him, and screaming obscenities in his face. One protester warned ZD that he was about to get his ass kicked. Somebody stole the power cord to his amplifier and others started threatening violence less than one minute after ZD started singing the Bee Gees hit song "You Should Be Dancin"'.

Cheery folks, those protesters. They only confirmed what I had said before.

These people are lawless anarchists who care nothing about freedom. They want things done their way, and they are willing to use threats and violence to get what they want.

This makes their protest non-peaceful, and illegal.

If I had been elected Mayor in 2009, these people would have been greeted with tear gas, rubber bullets, and fire hoses. The protest would already be over... and these losers would be back in their Moms basements by now.

Two years ago I went to the Coliseum to see the Trojans get blasted by Stanford.

I had seen USC lose before... rarely... but I had never seen them get destroyed before.

I brought a date - a girl from Wisconsin - and it was her first time watching a game in the Coliseum. I felt bad for her that the crowd was kind of glum for the whole game.

I might go to the game today. ESPN Game Day is there.

The bigger problem -- which I believe I have discovered through researching Villaraigosa 2009 campaign statements -- is that Villaraigosa never returned the dirty money!

Usually, in cases like this, there is an embarrassing mea culpa moment and political campaigns are forced to return corrupt donations. Not exactly the rule here in Los Angeles, though.

I contacted the Mayors Office for answers. No response. Just stonewalling.

I'll be calling Ethics again today.

I was contacted the other day by a voter here in Los Angeles who was complaining about Mayor Villaraigosas illegal fence at the Mayors mansion.

I wrote a blog post about this subject way back in June, entitled "Arrogant Villaraigosa: Laws Do Not Apply To Me". The blog post detailed how Villaraigosa wants to violate local housing codes and build a six foot wall around the Mayors home, The Getty House in Windsor Square. The fact that he is leaving in less than two years, and the insult to the rule of law were no impediments for him.

The Mayor had people put up a temporary construction fence around the house. The voter who contacted me complained that this fence had been up for many months, but no actual construction was taking place.

This doesn't surprise me. It is only one of many offenses by this corrupt Mayor of ours.

In 2009, Villaraigosa gave voters the middle finger and refused to participate in any debates or forums for the Mayoral election.

For five years, Villaraigosa gave the ethics department the middle finger by flaunting his appearances at the Oscars, Grammys, and Lakers and Dodgers games... yet refused to report the financial value of any of these gifts.

Now, the Mayor gives his own neighbors the middle finger by paying off/threatening the commission to change the rules especially for him so he can construct an illegal fence that is not allowed in that neighborhood. He makes it clear that the laws do not apply to him.

Well, I suggest that the voters in his neighborhood do what I plan to do.

Reward the Mayor with a subpoena!

His neighbors should file a class action lawsuit against Villaraigosa and make him show up in court to testify as to why -- after five years -- he suddenly needs to build this monstrous wall around the Getty House. I would like to hear the testimony of this commissioner who changed the rules specifically for the Mayor.

I myself am looking forward to seeing the Mayor served with legal papers.

My potential lawsuit against developer Alexander Hugh and his cabal of money-laundering associates will include a subpoena for the Mayor to appear and testify as a material witness. I look forward to grilling him and taking a deposition. It's going to be like a scene from the film "A Few Good Men".

"What did you promise Alexander Hugh in return for this campaign money?"

Now, I realize the Mayor may be able to escape an actual court appearance.

Official duties, blah blah blah....

But just hitting him with that subpoena will be a very rewarding moment for me.
