Obama does something right, for once

I have been very open about my public criticism of President Barack Obama. I'm not a fan of his or his political views.

However, every now and then, even people you don't care for can do something right.

President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton travelled this week to Burma (Myanmar) to visit the world-famous political prisoner Aung San Suu Kyi.

Aung San Suu Kyi is the daughter of the man known as the founder of Burma. She has been a political prisoner of the military dictatorship in Burma for a large portion of her life.

She is a huge hero to political rights activists around the world.

The official visit by President Obama was the first time any American President had been to that nation.

The visit by Obama and Clinton sends a message across the world that America does not condone dictatorships, and will work tirelessly to support freedom and free elections wherever and whenever possible.

It is an important message to send, as it promotes our own ideals, values, and ideologies around the globe.

And as much as I can't stand President Obama, I was actually proud of him and Secretary Clinton yesterday. They did the right thing.

And they sent a big message to the rest of the world.
