Mike Gatto fact-checks The Jennerjahn Report

I have had some contact over the last day or so with Mike Gatto, the newly-elected State Assemblyman.

Some of his staffers were disturbed by a blog post I had written, titled "Is Mike Gatto Going After Michael Higby?"

In the blog post, I said that Gatto and his staff members may have been involved in creating a nasty blog about Mayor Sam creator Michael Higby. I didn't accuse them outright, but I did list them as one of several suspects.

Higbys Mayor Sam blog has been a thorn in the side of many local politicians... with many political figures admitting that they read it first thing every morning... to make sure they are not being talked about in a storyline there.

Gatto had taken a severe beating recently by the Mayor Sam blog, which was fairly one-sided in its support for Gatto's opponent in the recent election, Republican businessman Sunder Ramani.

Gatto was obviously not happy about this blog post and the way it portrayed him. He contacted me to state very clearly that he and his staff were not involved in this petty attack on Michael Higby.

His quote:

I wondered why Michael Higby was bashing me so hard, so untruthfully, and so personally. I was like, "what did I ever do to this guy, for him to 'have it out for me' so much?"

So I asked around, and found out that he thinks my team put up a blog calling him a slanderer and other things. As stupid as it is to try to prove a negative, I think it is worth saying that I, my team, my staff, my consultants, my friends, etc. did not put up that blog. In the grand scheme of things, I suppose this matters little, unless of course you value the truth. As someone who had to deal with a lot of very nasty and untrue personal attacks, I would never let anyone associated with me make similar personal attacks, in any format, including a web site.

Gattos explanation seems sincere enough to me, and I tend to believe believe him because as an elected official, it would be beneath him to act in this manner. So there you have it.

Gatto and staff clear the air. Let's see what Mayor Sam will have to say about his.

For the record...I do not support Mike Gatto or his politics. But I am happy to let someone respond if they feel they have been unfairly accused of something.

Thank You, President Bush

In opposition to the wild-eyed lefties at Griffith Park Wayist, who are promoting a survey of fellow lefties that criticizes President George W. Bush... I salute President George W. Bush.
History will look back and recognize that he fully supported American ideology and goals.
He was feared and despised by tyrants all over the world because he was a strong leader.

The stock market hit record highs when George W. Bush was President.
He inspired confidence in free-market capitalism.

You will never be able to say that about the current President.

Barack Obama: The New King George

On this Independence Day, it is interesting to take a look at our current President and see how far he has become removed ideologically from the great men who founded our nation.

Benjamin Franklin said "Neither a borrower nor a lender be."

Barack Obama decides to print up billions of dollars out of thin air, creating a situation which threatens to bankrupt our entire financial system and cause a worldwide economic collapse.

John Adams said "A Constitutional Government, once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever."

Barack Obama and the Democrats voted in a health care law that gives Free Citizens no choice when it comes to purchasing health insurance.

Thomas Jefferson said "But with respect to future debt; would it not be wise and just for that nation to declare in the constitution they are forming that neither the legislature, nor the nation itself can validly contract more debt, than they may pay within their own age, or within the term of 19 years."

Barack Obama and the Democrats exploded the National Debt to a point where it is now mathematically impossible to pay it off -- jeopardizing the futures of all citizens here in America.

Food for thought on this Independence Day....

Recall effort facing daunting obstacles

Well, all the ninnys and NIMBYS of this City just might get the last laugh on me.
My effort to Recall Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is facing some daunting obstacles, and if the situation does not change, this initial Recall attempt will not succeed.

1) With six weeks left, we do not have the required signatures. We do have hundreds and hundreds of returned petitions filled with signatures, but nowhere near the 240,000 we need by August 18th.

2) We started this Recall Campaign with less than $10,000 ... and we still have less than $10,000. Part of the crucial element here is that even though 1,000 City workers are about to lose their jobs, they are for some reason not interested in writing the Recall campaign a check for $20. Businesses who lose hundreds of thousands to excessive and Socialist City tax policies will not write a check for $50 to rid themselves of these accursed politicians.

3) The timeframe is working against us. Even if we had the money to enact our battle plans, there is slim chance we could get everything done by August 18th.

Most likely scenario is that we have to let this Recall expire and start raising money to do a new one.
I have a feeling that some of the newly-laid-off 1,000 City employees might get interested this time around.

We need to raise money to do a direct-mail campaign.
We plan on mailing instructions and petitions to over 200,000 voters.

It will cost over $50,000 to do this.

If those 1,000 about-to-get-laid-off City employees had been willing to write us a check for $50, we might be talking about the November Recall election already. But they didn't do that.

I can't do everything on my own, people.

I ran for Mayor against Villaraigosa and asked people to vote for me... they didn't.
I launched the Recall against Villaraigosa and asked people to help out financially...they didn't.
I can't help a City that won't cooperate.

I am willing to re-file against the Mayor one more time, but if larger organizations and groups won't step to the plate to help out financially, then the voters will be left to pay the price for their poor voting choices.

They will feel the sting of having Villaraigosa in charge until 2013. Yes...that's right..2013!

I think it is time for me to concentrate on talking to voters in CD 4 and hoping that they have smartened up a little bit since voting for Villaraigosa in 2009.

If not, they will have to deal with the pain of having the Al Bundy of L.A. politics as their Council Member...

Tom La Bonge.

Our Jackass Mayor Hangs Out With Other Cartoon Characters

Reminds me of the joke about lawyers and rats.

There are some things that a rat won't do.....

Egomaniac, Socialist Senator Robert Byrd dies

Senator Robert Byrd died yesterday at 92 years old.
He was an egomaniac who abused his position of power for five decades.
Shockingly, the voters in West Virginia kept returning him to power.
His death made me think of this quote from history...

The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.
Alexis de Tocqueville

And that is what Byrd did best.... bribing the voters with other peoples money.

Byrd abused his seniority in Congress to steer record amounts of Government money to the citizens of his generally poor State of West Virginia. His abuses were so outrageous, that the Coast Guard was given branch offices in West Virginia... even though the State is landlocked!

Byrd was also an unrepentant egomaniac who had no qualms about naming everything after himself.
There are literally hundreds of roads, school, bridges, libraries, and government offices named specifically after Robert Byrd.

There are other countries in the world where leaders name everything after themselves... Libya, Cuba, North Korea, Iraq...but they are generally not places that you would want to live.
None of them make the Fortune magazine list of "Most Desirable Places To Live".

Robert Byrd was the opposite of the type of leader our founding fathers wanted for our country.
He was a corrupt bureaucrat who wielded the government position he held like a sledgehammer.
He used his power to reward loyalists and to punish opponents.
To his voters in West Virginia, he was just like a Communist dictator.
Oppose him, and he could cut off the mothers milk of government money.

He ended up making West Virginians fearful, and servile to his demands, and long-term dependents on a Nanny-state government.

Democrats will spend the next few days with speeches and lengthy tributes, but almost all of them will overlook the inconvenient fact that Robert Byrd had long ago been a member of the Ku Klux Klan and had opposed Civil Rights legislation in the 1960's.

I take no pleasure in his death, in fact I feel badly for his friends and family. It is a sad moment for them.

However, I am pleased that Robert Byrd will no longer be abusing taxpayer funds to build monuments to himself. Byrd was the reason that Congress had to come up with a special legislative effort titled "No Monuments To Me."

When Congress has to take special measures to counteract you personally, you are failing your duties as a public servant.

A Strong New Candidate for 2012

While most of the talk about 2012 has focused on the Republican options to take down Barack Obama, there has been very little press given to options that are not as well known.

Sure, anyone and everyone can cover Sarah Palin, or Mitt Romney... as they are the top 2 favorites heading into 2012.

But there is a strong possibility that the candidate who defeats Obama will be someone who is not well known right now. Could it be Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin? Or Governor Rick Perry of Texas?

One of my most interesting moments at CPAC 2010 was when a friend of mine literally dragged me down the hall to see Congressman Mike Pence of Indiana. I didn't know much about Pence before this, but I quickly realized that he has the potential for greatness in him.

I know most of you don't have time to watch this speech, but Pence has some great lines.

"You proved Thomas Jefferson right... "the people are the ultimate guardians of their own liberty"

"When it comes to more borrowing, the answer is no!
When it comes to more spending, the answer is no!
When it comes to more bailouts, the answer is no!"

"There is nothing that ails this country that couldn't be fixed by paying more careful attention to the principles enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America."

"To win back America, we have to offer the American people real solutions to the challenges facing this country at home and abroad."

I came away from this speech very convinced that Pence is a player in 2012 and that he has what it takes.

There are only about 10 people who can be the next President...one is Barack Obama and the other 9 are the top Republicans running for the GOP nomination.

Pence should be near the top of that list.

I would be proud to have a man like this be our next President.
