Living in an Orwellian Nightmare

The title of this blog post, of course, references George Orwells classic book "1984" -- where "Big Brother", or more accurately, Big Government is in charge of everything.

We are living in dangerous times right now. Times that are starting to see reality begin to mimic Orwells fiction.

A few of my Conservative friends on Facebook were arrested in Washington D.C. recently, and they are potentially facing one year in jail.

Their crime?

A political protest where they went and sold lemonade on Capitol Hill.

This action was taken to protest the fact that many municipalities across the nation have cracked down on young children running lemonade stands. Yes, the Nanny-State -- enabled by President Barack Obama -- cannot handle the fact that free citizens choose to take the risk that they may be buying "unsafe" lemonade from toddlers in their front yards.

District of Columbia Police say that selling things on Capitol Hill is prohibited and that is worthy of a charge that brings a six month stay in jail.

On top of that, these freedom fighters face an additional six months for refusing to take a drug test. A drug test? For what?

This was a purely political protest and the Police are very aware of that fact.

There are millions of people in this country who voted for Barack Obama.

I'd like to give all of them a drug test.

Rick Perrys post-debate Q&A session

Here is a small video clip of Texas Governor Rick Perry answering some questions post-debate.

Even though he has stumbled in the polls after some bad answers in the debates...I still have confidence in Governor Perry.

He is good with people and has character.

He is a leader.

I trust him.

Romney and Cain will eventually stumble because they are not good candidates for the White House.

Pondering Litigation

If any of you follow the local news, a very important story broke yesterday about a financial donor to the 2009 Villaraigosa re-election campaign being nailed with charges of fraud.

I was a candidate for Mayor in that election, which Villaraigosa won by carrying about 55% of a very small turnout of the vote. Only 15% of the voters showed up in that election, because Mayor Villaraigosa was being challenged by nine other men who combined didn't have 10% of the Mayors campaign funds.

The media pretty much refused to even cover the event, writing it off as a non-story.

I ran in that election because I despised Villaraigosa and everything he stood for.

I was offended that no powerful political figure had the guts to challenge him.

At a minimum, Villaraigosa is a grudge-driven racist. At his worst, he is a dangerous sociopath who may have crippled the city for decades with his widespread corruption and looting of public funds.

The other local, elected city officials were gutless for not trying to remove him from power.

Villaraigosa was unpopular, and even though he bought the election, he barely won.

I have to admit I am considering litigation against this developer Alexander Hugh and all his associates that participated in this campaign finance fraud.

Maybe we can hit Villaraigosa with some subpoenas also.

It would be interesting to see how deep this corruption goes.

Could these financial donors be held financially responsible for the nine other candidates losing the election? I'm not sure.

I have never heard of any political candidate taking legal action against financial donors of their opponent. I think it would be a precedent-setting case. It might even have to go to the Supreme Court.

Mary Cummins gets "Punked"!

Today, a hilarious video for everyone to see.

It seems that everyones favorite internet stalker & Mayor Sam legend Mary Cummins ran her mouth all over the internet about someone who didn't particularly care for it... and ended up getting herself sued in the process! Maybe there is a lesson to be learned by Mary here. If you keep messing around with the wrong people, eventually someone is going to turn around and take the fight to you.

It appears that the plaintiffs in this case arranged to have Mary set up. They had someone contact her and pretend to have an injured "albino squirrel" that needed her help. Mary, being the obsessive "friend of the furry" that she is, dropped everything and rushed to the rescue.

(I told you she was like Batman......)

In this video, she pops out of her car with her trusty animal cage in hand.

Instead of rescuing that poor, injured albino squirrel, the gentleman in the video serves her with a subpoena saying she is being sued by Bat World Sanctuary and Amanda Lollar for making defamatory statements about their business.

Poor Mary! Now she has to fly all the way to Texas to sit in a courtroom and face some very unpleasant and intrusive questions. I hear that two of Marys former stalking victims are going to be present in the courtroom as observers.

Mitt Romneys Mormon Faith

Mitt Romney is topping the news feeds for the last 24 hours after a supporter of Texas Governor Rick Perry called Romneys Mormon Church a "cult".

That was catnip for the news media, who couldn't stop talking about it.

America has never elected a Mormon to be President, and there is a simple explanation for that. Many Christian faiths in America view Mormonism with suspicion and distrust.

Mormons believe in Jesus and refer to themselves as Christians, but they also believe in a modern-day prophet named Joseph Smith, who said he communicated with God.

Smith claimed to have discovered long-lost buried "Plates of Gold" near his home in New York. Plates that were written in a symbolic language that only he could understand.

His translation of these plates later became the Book of Mormon.

These facts all seem a little far out and non-traditional for most Christians.

Evangelical voters, who make up a large percentage of GOP Primary voters, are unlikely to give Mitt Romney very many votes.

Romney will probably win the New Hampshire Primary, but he is going to get killed in the Deep South.

Pastor Robert Jeffress of the First Baptist Church of Dallas fired an opening salvo in this battle by stating that the Mormon church is a "cult".

It was an aggressive statement by Jeffress, who supports Rick Perry.

Different Christian faiths are traditionally known to "play nice" by following the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. It is rare to hear them openly criticize or condemn one another.

As a Catholic, my faith dictates that we are the one, true Christian church.

However, as a Christian, I am reluctant to criticize or condemn my fellow Christians.

Even Mormons, who I believe to be a bit odd, are still trying to strive to achieve Christian principles. I would call them a sect, or a branch of Christianity.

I think it is unproductive and wrong of Pastor Jeffress to call them a cult.

Mitt Romney is going to have to make a big speech about this issue.

The other GOP candidates are dancing around this, because they don't want to offend anyone.

It would be refreshing to hear the candidates speak openly about this subject.

Stephen Box is insane

How do I know that former City Council Candidate Stephen Box is insane?

He rides a bicycle in Los Angeles.

He is willing to bet his very life that some stupid, distracted, text-messaging driver will not run him over.

I wouldn't take that bet for anything.

I know how people here drive.

He should show more common sense...especially now that he and his wife have a kid on the way.

However, he should be fine today!

Bicycle anarchists seize the Los Angeles streets today for Ciclavia -- preventing me from doing my job and earning a living.

They are really starting to get on my nerves.

Tyranny & Medical Marijuana

Yesterday, Federal Agents announced that they plan to crack down on the California medical marijuana industry. They stated that is has become a front for operations that are not interested in health...only in making money.

Surprise, surprise!

The idiots in government are finally waking up to the fact that the whole medical marijuana thing has been a scam from the very start. Over 90% of the people buying it in dispensaries are not ill.

I feel that this is tyranny from the Federal government.

Let me be clear... I in no way approve of the medical marijuana industry. I think most of the "medical marijuana" users are a scam. They are just people who want to smoke marijuana and get high. I think most of the medical marijuana dispensaries are a scam. If it was truly "medicine", then it should be distributed at hospitals and pharmacies, not in private clubs.

I don't think people should smoke marijuana... but then again, I don't think people should smoke tobacco cigarettes, either... but it is their choice to make.

Anything else is tyranny.

The Federal Government here is violating the 10th Amendment.

Nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it give them the power to dictate which agricultural products are legal and which are illegal. That power is reserved to the States.

An all-powerful, and evil government that says it has the power to declare marijuana to be illegal, then also has the power to declare that tomatoes are illegal. Or onions.

This is a government saying that it has no limits.

It violates our laws and threatens our freedom.

The marijuana issue was never about marijuana. It was about control over human beings and their human behavior. Law enforcement was always scared of an army of drug-crazed loonies causing chaos in our society. Medical marijuana has been around for years and there hasn't even been a tiny blip on the crime radar screen.

Law enforcement fears are irrational.

It's time to get government out of the business of being a cultural dictator.
