Why does City Council candidate Stephen Box hate Freedom and Progress?

The above photo is an image of a new complex developers want to build in Hollywood around Sunset and Gower. The image is of a planned $850 million dollar mixed use condo/hotel/office development.

As a resident of Hollywood, I can testify to the fact that new buildings and development tend to bring customers, business and jobs to the area. There has been redevelopment around Sunset and Vine which has brought new businesses and jobs to the area. I am already a frequent customer at the Tender Greens restaurant located at Sunset and Vine. It didn't exist a year ago.

However, NIMBY activist and City Council candidate Stephen Box (above) has decided that projects like this, and the jobs they bring, are not suitable to him. Box went to City Hall to complain and ask the City to stop the variance to allow these buildings to be built.

The question remains: Why does Stephen Box hate freedom? The developers who want to build this concept are risking their own money because they believe that they can create success where none exists.

Why does Stephen Box hate progress? He prefers to use a bicycle when most Angelenos need a motor vehicle.
He would prefer to turn roads into bike lanes. Wheeee! We could all be just like the Dutch!

Why does Stephen Box hate Freedom and Progress? It seems very strange to me.
I've heard tales that Stephen rolls with Xenu, but developers? -- I guess they are just not cool enough for him.
Maybe developers are "S.P", or "suppressive persons".
Oh well...
