Congresswoman Michele Bachmann yesterday came out with a speech in Congress where she defended her vote to extend the Patriot Act.
The Patriot Act is controversial because it allows the government to snoop around on Americans in an effort to root out terrorists and defend the nations security. I find it interesting that several political figures that I am very fond of have very differing opinions about this controversial subject.
Bachmann makes some very valid points in this video.
She discusses the "Lone Wolf" theory and roving wiretaps, and admits she has reservations about certain aspects of Section 215 violating the 4th Amendment. But she defends her decision quite well.
Bachmann is a smart lady, and if no other candidates enter the 2012 race, I'd be more inclined to support her Presidential run than any of the current entrants.
Tomorrow, I will give the flip side of the argument and show you why some other leaders feel the Patriot Act is wrong.
